I hope this WSI Play by Play finds each of you doing well.
True to form, our fall schedule at WSI has been exceptionally busy. In fact, it’s been the craziest fall schedules that we have ever seen, but good crazy. Americans have been spending money in recent months and virtually all outdoor product lines such as hunting, fishing, camping, boating, hiking, backpacking, UTVs, etc., are witnessing record sales. Hunting and fishing license sales are up in almost all states. Americans are connecting and re-connecting to those very things that are fundamentally important to their lives and lifestyles….The Great Outdoors. Our relationship with wild things and wild places has, shall we say, been reborn during these crazy COVID days. Silver linings in life loom and it’s extraordinary events that often bring them to surface.
I hope you’ll enjoy these harvest photos that are included, herein. Hunting at times has been very challenging on some of our fall hunts, but our guides and clients continue to scratch out some very nice animals. Along with some great trophies and memories, these hunts are yielding plenty of healthy protein that finds it’s way onto many kitchen tables.
Let’s not forget that Hunting = Conservation. Hunters and hunting create conservation funding through license sales, excise tax on sporting arms and ammo, monies generated through sportsmen’s groups, free-enterprise market revenues that incentivize private-lands stewardship, and various other hunting-related funding sources. The only reason to apologize for being a hunter is if you are not actively being an advocate for hunting…no need to hide in the shadows or feel intimidated by animals rightists or anti-hunting activists. Wild things and wild places need hunters more today than ever. So, be proud to be a hunter, be responsible with your social media postings only sharing respectful photos and quality content, get involved with sportsman’s groups, be a student of hunting as a conservation platform, and be an active advocate. Be a voice for hunting.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and here’s to wishing you a very merry Christmas holiday season, hopefully full of laughter, good food, and safe travels.
Cheers,
Greg Simons
WSI Co-owner
