Janks was a star of Bellwether! It was hard not to fall in love with his happy face. Janks was transferred to us from another shelter in February of 2019 with a broken and poorly healed leg. Several weeks after his arrival his leg was amputated and, as soon as he was healed, he was adopted.
Unfortunately, not long after he was taken home he was returned due to various reported behavioral issues. He remained at the shelter and soon became a staff and volunteer favorite. He was open and affectionate with everyone and everything he saw. Multiple people expressed interest in him but it took many months before the right family came along.
Janks' new family spent weeks coming to the shelter to visit him and partake in training before taking him home. Now, his new name is Marley and he is the shining star of their lives! After a month of being with them, he has become the unofficial mascot of the boys’ sports team, spends his time playing in the yard or going on hikes, and sleeps right in bed with his people. His missing leg doesn’t hold him back at all, his training is going spectacularly, and he has shown no behavioral issues! Though we want our animals in a home and hate to see them returned, the wait is worth it when it means having the perfect family!
