Wednesday Night Bible Study Tonight
Five Dynamics Every Church Must Address
Wednesday, Feb 3 and 10
6:30-7:30 pm on Zoom

What's actually going on in congregations here in 2021? The unprecedented changes in our world are resulting in an unusual mix of dynamics in most every church. Mark Tidsworth from Pinnacle Leadership Associates identifies these five dynamics as longing, fear, grief, adaptation, and vitality.

For the first two Wednesdays of February, we will be spending our Wednesday night Prayer & Bible Study time exploring these dynamics, using a video and discussion resource. This will be an opportunity to reflect on this unusual season in the life of our church and to recognize that we are not alone in these challenges.

We typically participate in SOUPer Bowl of Caring on the first Sunday of February. SOUPer Bowl of Caring is a nationwide youth-led initiative which uses the energy of the Super Bowl to address hunger in local communities. Like many things these days, this year’s SOUPer Bowl of Caring will be different -- we are extending it throughout the month of February! This emphasis will include Clemson Community Care and the new Mt. Zion Food Pantry in Sandy Springs, a "Soup and Stories" Facebook Live event, a Drive-Thru Food Drive (like we had in June), and a Blood Drive! The Blood Connection bloodmobile will be at the church on Sunday, Mar 7 from noon - 3:00 pm. Mark your calendar to give the gift of life!
During February, we will be collecting donations for two area food ministries: Clemson Community Care and Mt. Zion Food Pantry for Friends, a new ministry located at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Sandy Springs. Donations may be brought to First Baptist Church of Pendleton throughout the month (please let a staff member know when you plan to come; we are currently keeping doors locked to minimize traffic in the building), but we will also have a Drive-Thru Food Drive on Sunday, Feb 28 from 1-3 pm. Simply drive through our parking lot and volunteers will unload your donations; you stay in your vehicle the whole time! The lists below include items that are most needed at each site.
Clemson Community Care Current Needs
jelly, cereal, dried beans, fruit, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, salad dressing, jello, soup, and pudding. Non-food items needed include: diapers (size 4), deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, laundry detergent, dish detergent, paper towels
Mount Zion Food Pantry Current Needs
canned meat -- tuna, chicken, chili, beef stew, etc., canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, coffee, tea, cooking spices -- salt, pepper, cinnamon, sugar, garlic powder, etc., cornbread mix

The Worship of God
February 7, 2021
Fifth Sunday after Epiphany

Strength and Healing

Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg
Pastor

Look for an email Sunday morning with the link to the YouTube video and a link to Facebook.
We will also premiere the service on Facebook at 11 am each Sunday. This will allow us to watch “together,” greet one another in the comments section, and have a greater sense of community as a church family.
Worship Volunteers
Worship in February will be pre-recorded and presented on YouTube and Facebook. We will need worship volunteers for reading Scripture and praying the Offertory Prayer. This would require you to record a video of yourself and then upload it to the church (it’s not hard -- we’ll tell you how to do it and provide “tech support” if you need it)!

If you would like to volunteer as a Scripture reader or praying the Offertory Prayer, please use the link below or email office@fbcpendleton.org or call the office at 864-646-3913.
Giving an offering is an act of worship. Your generosity is as important as ever, enabling the work of the church to continue as much as possible. Several giving options are available:
