The Cub Chatter is your quick-source for Cub-themed opportunities and exciting events across the Greater Alabama Council and beyond. Published monthly, the Cub Chatter is distributed to Scouts and Scouters who are involved in or interested in the Cub Scout program.

Cub Scout Jolly Jamboree!
 
The Greater Alabama Council would like to invite all Cub Scouts and their families to join us at Camp Sequoyah on December 28th for a day of Scouting fun at Camp Sequoyah! This exciting day at camp is great for everyone in the family! There will be lots of things to do, and the best part? You get to decide your schedule!* Some of the activities we will have at Jolly Jamboree are:

-Cub Scout Shooting Sports (Archery, BB Shooting, and Sling shots)
-Fishing
-Nature Hike
-Pasta Derby
-Fishing
-Make-and-take Seasonal Craft hut
-Natural Resources exhibits
-AND MORE!

Gates open at 8am and close at 4pm

Pre-Registration is Required!

Registration Ends on 12/22 at 12pm!
Youth Protection Training
As the year draws to a close and your Pack is going through the recharter process, don't forget that now is a great time to ensure that your Youth Protection Training is up-to-date. This training is offered at no cost to you, and is available 24 hours a day on the my.scouting.org web portal. To access this essential training and others, click on the link below!

Go Camping in "God's Backyard"

The Episcopal Diocese of Alabama is welcoming Cub Packs to spend a weekend camping at Camp McDowell, a historic camp that has been in operation for nearly 100 years. Situated on 1,140 acres adjacent to the Bankhead National Forest in Winston County, Camp McDowell is open year round with a variety of programs and opportunities. University of Scouting!
Join us for a Virtual University of Scouting March 20th 2021. The 2021 University of Scouting will feature 3 schools:

School of Cub Scouting:
Den Administration
Den Programs and Fun
Pack Administration
Pack Programs and Fun

School of Scouts BSA:
Troop Administration
Troop Programs

School of Outdoor Adventure and Program:
Outdoor Activities and Program
Order of the Arrow 

Participants will choose a track to follow within the schools. The University of Scouting will use Zoom as the format to deliver the curriculum in 2021.  
Looking Ahead to 2021
As we're bringing 2020 to a close, it is time to look ahead to 2021 and make sure that you have some key dates on the Pack, Den, and family calendar!

Cub Adventure Weekend: April 16-18, Camp Comer

Cub Scout Day Camps: June and July

Cub Scout Resident Camp: June, Camp Sequoyah (dates TBD)
