June was National Foster a Pet Month, and, together with the Petco Foundation, we’re giving a huge shout-out to all our foster program volunteers. As you know, the Petco Foundation helps us support our foster families by making top-notch online training available to HSEP staff and foster parents. The Foundation also helps recognize our Local Foster Heroes.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, this support has been critical. Our Foster Families went above and beyond as they provided temporary homes for animals that weren’t quite ready for adoption. Together, they cared for 200 underage puppies and kittens, and gave over 51,000 volunteer hours. As a result of their dedication and generosity, we were able to ensure all our foster animals received the care and attention they needed during the COVID-19 crisis. We are grateful to each of our volunteers, and we are grateful for the specialized support of the Petco Foundation as we continue to begin to move towards reopening our doors.
