WOW! Thank you to everyone who participated in our District's Cans & Kits 4 Community Collection in conjunction with the Annual Conference. We collected:

Pounds of Food: 2,594 pounds
Number of Canned Food Items: 5,180 items
Laundry Soap: 31 items
Diapers/Wipes: 39 items
Personal Care Items: 354 items
UMCOR Kits: 187 Kits

Thank you to Rev. Kevin Elmore
We'd like to thank Rev. Kevin Elmore for his service as Director of Lay Servant Ministries for the Rappahannock River District. Kevin took up the role in May 2019 and has been instrumental in growing and developing the program, even in light of the pandemic. So far this year, we have had over 80 participants in our Zoom Lay Servant Training Classes.

Kevin turns over the Lay Servant leadership to Ms. Jennifer Robinson O'Brien from Morrisville UMC. Jennifer is a Certified Lay Speaker and is excited about continuing to offer online training this September. She has been busy reading Lay Servant Reports and will be sending out information on upcoming classes soon! She can be reached at fxbcryptkeeper@gmail.com.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR GLEANING 2021

The Society of St. Andrew will provide gleaning opportunities in the Northern Neck on the following days: Saturday, July 10 and Saturday, July 24. We will be working with Healthy Harvest Food Bank so other dates may be available as well. Gleanings will take place in the morning and be done by noon. Families, individuals and groups are invited to participate to feed those that are hungry! 2021 Lay Servant Academy

Come join us for Lay Servant Academy Online Training Day: We are excited to be hosting Summer Lay Servant courses which will take place on Saturday, August 21.

NEW THIS YEAR: Both full-day and half-day course offerings! All courses are designed for equipping laity for the work and mission of each person’s calling. Instructors for each course include both clergy and laity who are ready to give practical and relevant resources that will be useful in various ministry areas. Lay Servant Academy is for all of the Virginia Conference Laity who feel called to ministry or who currently serve the church and would like to grow in their servant leadership.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT/FINANCIAL SECRETARY NEEDED
St Matthias UMC, Fredericksburg, is seeking an Administrative Assistant/Financial Secretary. Candidate needs a high degree of organization, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate dependability and discretion with confidential information. Computer capability to include Google Workplace and Quickbooks and the ability to become competent with additional software including Servant Keeper, Faithlife, and social media, as well as print and electronic publication software. In addition, abilities in multi-tasking, communication, interpersonal skills, office management, and maintenance of financial, personnel, and other records. Excellent opportunity to make a difference in a faith community. Position is part-time, 25 hours a week, Monday – Friday. Benefits include Personal Time Off, holidays, and some schedule flexibility. Compensation range is $23,400 – $26,000. Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to pastorbert@stmtoday.com no later than 31 July.
