Letter to Community About
COVID Positive Case

Good afternoon friends and family,

Late last evening, I learned that one of our classified employees tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.  This individual is asymptomatic at this time and we are keeping our team member in our thoughts and prayers.  The employee was directed to immediately self-quarantine and monitor their symptoms.  Dr. Choi began a contact tracing process and identified two other employees who may have had a "close contact" with the COVID-positive individual.  The two impacted individuals who came into close contact with the COVID-positive person were directed to quarantine at home and self-monitor for symptoms.  The contact tracing brought a measure of assurance that the infected individual had no contact with students and no contact with classroom teachers or support staff.

While the affected classified employee is not a classroom teacher or classroom support staff member, it was determined that the affected employee had visited unoccupied rooms at Valentine, Huntington Middle School and San Marino High School.  Each of those rooms were immediately closed and sealed and maintenance personnel were directed to deep-clean each facility and room potentially affected by the presence of the COVID-positive team member.

We have determined that no other employee, student or community member has been exposed to the COVID-positive individual but will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days.

I appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to learn more about this virus, and it's impact on our students, employees and facilities, every single day.

Best Regards,

Dr. Jeff Wilson, Superintendent
