FROM THE VICAR

If you've been by the office recently, then you know this poster from my "Welcome Reception" (made by Mary and Lucy Steck) now adorns my office door. It makes me smile each time I see it. To me, it's a reminder of what I want church to be for everyone: a place that's welcoming, joyful, and even colorful. Certainly that was the feeling I got on Easter morning, when so many of you made your way back into the building. It was a joy to behold. Let's keep moving forward! Keep coming together and being our best selves: welcoming, joyful and colorful.

To make that easier, we're going to start an adult education class following coffee hour, beginning mid-May and continuing into early summer. The class will be an Introduction to the Episcopal Church for adults considering Confirmation in October, and for newcomers, but it's also a refresher course for those who just want to know, "Why do we do that?"

If you're interested, please contact me HERE. Once I know how many people to expect, I'll settle on a curriculum, and together, we'll hammer out dates for the classes.

It's a joy to be here at St. John's! I hope you agree. -Kate +
WHY DO WE DO THAT?

Ever wonder why we do something in a Sunday service? We're in the planning stages of a short course on the Episcopal Church for people who are interested in an introduction to - or a refresher course on - all things Episcopal. This would be an ideal class for adults interested in confirmation this fall. The class is also open to newcomers to the Episcopal Church or even old-timers who just wonder why we do what we do. If you're interested, contact Kate as soon as possible.
THE BISHOP IS COMING!

Our bishop will be at St. John's this Sunday, April 24th. Bishop Alan Gates will celebrate the Eucharist, preach, and meet and greet folks at coffee hour. This is a regularly scheduled visit, and not in response to any particular issue, which means now is your chance to ask him all those burning theological, Christological, Episcopal, diocesan, or just plain curiosity-driven questions that you've been storing up.
NEW PRAYER LIST

The season of Easter begins on Easter morning and continues until Pentecost on June 5. In addition to a new liturgy to mark the season, we are going to update the prayer list so that it better reflects our current hopes and prayers. All the current names will be cycled off, so if there’s someone on the list whose name you’d like to remain on you also need to let Kate know that. You can contact here HERE.
CONTINUING COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS ARE IN PLACE

We are using safety protocols issued by our diocese. You can read the full document HERE. Masks are optional except when singing, and there is a "safety section" of the church for those who want or need to remain masked and maintain social distance.
