. Through the LMCC's partnership between the ECA and IBEW Local 134, the unionized electrical industry of Cook County has been re-imagined as Powering Chicago.
Powering Chicago aims to strengthen the electrical and construction industries throughout Cook County with in-depth articles and stories about the unique and impactful construction projects populating Chicago.
In addition to Powering Chicago, and because of your membership to ECA, you have exclusive access to the members-only website, Ours to Protect. Ours to Protect will provide members with important facts about the landscape of the construction industry and the unionized electrical industry both here in Illinois and across the country.

ECA Welcomes New President and Officers / New Executive Committee Members
The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) would like to thank Eric Nixon, Maron Electric Company for his serving as ECA President from 2016 through 2018. Eric moves on to become NECA Governor, as David Witz, Continental Electrical Construction Company, steps down. Frank Gurtz, Gurtz Electric Company is starting his term as ECA Vice President and Richard Jamerson, Jamerson and Bauwens Electrical Contractors, Inc. begins his term as ECA President. The Association also welcomes two new members to the ECA Executive Committee: Jerry McGlynn, McWilliams Electric Company, Inc. and Gary Misicka, Lyons Electric Company, Inc. Congratulations and thank you to Eric, David, Frank, Rick, Jerry and Gary!

The ECA Research and Education Committee has coordinated an ambitious schedule for 2019. Please click on the link below for the Program Schedule. Also, initial registrations for any seminar is limited to four per member firm; however, if there are spots still available close to a seminar date, the waiting list will be reviewed.

"Cracking the "WIP" - Driving Predictable Cost Projections" Seminar(s)
The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Research and Education Committee kicked off the new year with the "Cracking the "WIP"- Driving Predictable Cost Projections" seminar. The program was so popular that a second session was added. Both seminars were held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Drake Oak Brook Hotel in Oak Brook, Illinois. The seminars were facilitated by Ms. Christine Rahlf, Associate Director - Maxim Consulting Group, LLC.

"Tomorrow's Lighting Industry: What You Need To Know To Thrive" Seminar
The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Research and Education Committee held an additional seminar on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 called, "Tomorrow's Lighting Industry: What You Need To Know To Thrive." The program was facilitated by Dr. John Curran, LED Transformations, LLC and was held at the Drake Oak Brook Hotel in Oak Brook, Illinois.

ECA Student Committee Update
The ECA Student Committee oversees the activities of the NECA IIT Student Chapter. The Student Chapter is currently participating with the NECA Green Energy Challenge. This year's challenge will focus on an energy audit of a charitable organization / not-for-profit. We wish the students good luck!

IMSCA Legislative Updates
IMSCA Lobby Day
IMSCA's 2019 Lobby Day event will be held Tuesday, March 19th. This year's event will feature guest speakers Senator John Mulroe and Representative Luis Arroyo. As the sponsors of IMSCA's retainage reform legislation, they will provide their "insider view" of IMSCA's efforts to pass this important legislation. The
Lobby Day will coincide with IMSCA's quarterly
Board and Membership
meeting at
11:00 a.m.

Lobby Day activities will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Attendees will receive a legislative overview of current bills being considered and will be reminded of procedures for speaking to elected officials. Lunch will be provided prior to heading to the Capital to lobby legislators. This year's event will also include a joint

2019 Safety Achievement Program
NECA invites member companies to participate in the annual Recognition of Safety Achievement Program. Awards will be presented to top performing organizations in each district based on company size and to all organizations with zero injuries and illness within the reporting year.
2019 recognitions are based on objective criteria available from your OSHA 300 report and worker's compensation insurance provider for the 2018 calendar year. NOTE: All 2019 users must register for the awards website, any previous year's user accounts have been removed and will need to be re-added.

WIN Program
The WIN Leadership Summit will be held, March 19-20, 2019 at the Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX. The conference will feature expert speakers, group discussions and networking opportunities. A detailed agenda for this event will be made available from NECA, soon.

NECA Now Registration is Open!
Once again, the National Electrical Contractors Association will take an out-of-the-box approach to the executive leadership conference. Over four days at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Arizona, NECA Now 2019 will be the place to hear dynamic speakers and subject matter experts, attend relevant educational opportunities and participate in valuable networking events.
