Dear Friends of The Blue Purl,

This week, we share a story from Linda, the creator of many beautiful shawls:

"My closet shelves are filled with shawls I have knitted over the years with guidance from Maura, Keri, among others at TBP. My shawls are all colors, weights, and styles.

This past May, my grandson became a Bar Mitzvah. Brett had an outdoor evening celebration and I was wearing a sleeveless white dress. I am always cold and any one of my shawls would have been perfect.

However, I chose to wear one my mother crocheted for me when I was a teenager. It was my way of showing how much I miss her and wanted great grandma Betty to be a part of her great grandson's special day... a great grandson she never was fortunate enough to meet.

To my friends in this wonderful knitting community, please remember that every stitch you knit is not only creating a sweater, hat, shawl, blanket, or gloves and socks. Keep filling your shelves. You are building a tangible legacy that will hopefully be cherished by many future generations."

-Linda B.

So very, very true.

She also made a cute Halfpipe Hat in an evening with Berroco's Vintage Chunky held with Sandnes Garn's Tynn Silk Mohair...so posh, squishy, and lightening fast!

Other ideas to consider: Vinger, Venlig, Felix Pullover and on the lighter side, a Love Note or Willa in luminous MadTosh Light? Consider also our kits, especially the EasyPeasy Bandana.

You can do it! And please share. We would love to see what you've made.
