RECAP OF PAST EVENTS
International Peace Day
September 18th, 2019
From the Global Perspectives on Peace report by Ellen Miller:

This week, Philadelphia marked International Peace Day with a series of events, including a panel discussion at the University of Pennsylvania. While the word “peace-building” often evokes images of ending violent conflicts outside the U.S., the panel also focused on building peace in the U.S. within and between our many diverse communities.

Panelists Carly Rose Pourzand, MSW (Community Engagement Program Specialist, Penn State Center), Rupa Pillai, Ph.D. (Senior Lecturer, Asian American Studies Program, UPenn) and Nyamal “Mal” Tutdeal, MA (Executive Director of NyaEden Foundation, Inc) shared their definitions of peacebuilding and wove their work with various communities in and outside the U.S. into the discussion.

GET INVOLVED
Fight Climate Change

Support this issue. The numbers don't lie: the Earth is getting warmer. We've already warmed the Earth by 1°C, and are on track to reach more than 3° of warming unless we make significant changes. That might seem like a small number, but it's a big deal. Scientists recently warned that we must reverse course in the next 12 years on how we use energy to eat, travel and live or our planet, people, and the resources we depend on will see major impacts.
