S W E E T SUMMERTIME!
How are we already towards the end of June?! Does anyone else feel like Summer snuck up on us? Although most of us were ready for some sunshine after a very long year! My desire is that as each season passes we have the ability to return to a sense of normalcy in our day-to-day lives.

Over the past few months we have been busy as ever and witnessed some very cool and inspiring things transpire in our clients homes. Mostly, the desire to create work and life spaces in their homes. And providing better areas for family bonding and cooking together. Family Rooms, Kitchens, movie rooms, and outdoor spaces have been our primary focus. We placed more sectionals this year than ever before. Again, it was about the gathering spaces for their family and close friends.

We, recently, returned from the furniture market in High Point, North Carolina where we were able to view all the new pieces and trends coming in the upcoming seasons. Sectionals were everywhere..more than ever attesting to the same thing that was happening with our clientele.

Mustard yellow was around every corner, along with bouclé fabrics and rattan. Is outdoor furniture made for interior spaces? It's getting so well crafted that you can't tell the difference, making our interior and exterior spaces transition seamlessly. After all the time spent indoors a trend that we noticed was bold, colorful art and bright colors. I think it's fair to say everyone is tired of their plain gray and beige interiors.

Speaking of art, furniture is stepping away from just the utilitarian use and becoming comfortable art pieces themselves.  We saw lots of blending of materials in the most unique ways. We were able to curate some unique pieces and can't wait to style them in your home!

We have some exciting news, Kat Nelson Design signature scents will be coming soon! Featuring a dark, musky, romantic scent and a light and bright citrusy scent. We can't wait for you to get your hands on them!

Stay well and Live Beautifully!

Kat

IT'S
PERSONAL
Who doesn't love a banana pudding? The Nelson Family does and this is one of our 4 favorite recipes. Enjoy!
BANANA BLUEBERRY PUDDING
(10-12 Servings)

4 cups milk
4 egg yolks
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tbs butter
1 Tbs vanilla extract
1 (12oz) box of vanilla wafers
4 large ripe bananas, sliced
2 cups of fresh blueberries (or frozen)
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
3 Tbs powdered sugar

Whisk together first 4 ingredients in a large saucepan over med-low heat. Cook, whisking constantly, 20 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla until butter melts. Let stand 10 minutes.

Arrange half of half of the vanilla wafers evenly in a 13x9" baking dish; top with half of banana slices and half of blueberries. Spoon half of pudding mixture evenly over the fruit. Repeat layers. Cover and chill for 4 hours.

Beat whipping cream at high speed with an electric mixer until foamy; gradually add powdered sugar; beating until soft peaks form. Spread evenly over chilled pudding. Serve immediately and ENJOY!

W H A T ' S N O T?

We know them, we hate them, we struggle to figure out what to do to with them..... it is none other than the "boob" light. As design has developed over the years it has been a saving grace that the lights that have inhabited our lower ceilings and hallways, for years, are finally catching up to the rest of the beautiful lighting that can be integrated in your home. This common eye sore has made some major upgrades and we are excited to show you that the possibilities are endless. They range from updated traditional to chic modern designs. Allow us to show you a few.

THE PONCE PROJECT
This project was started
pre-pandemic and got finalized recently (although we've been continuing to work on other areas of the home). They are the house whose door never closes. Whether it be throwing dinner parties or inviting friends kids over to host play dates. It was important for them to have strategically placed functional fabrics, yet still classic and timeless design. Their home is the epitome of a transitional and classic, yet highly functional home. They have a collection of passed down pieces and we included original art from local artists. We also introduced new and spectacular lighting along with custom drapes, rugs, furniture and accessories into each space. We look forward to showing you the newly designed master suite, along with the redesigned kitchen that begins in October. Go to our website for more "before" and current photos of this project.
