Harriet Tubman - Hero
Salem Chapel - St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada
Serving as the 'Moses' of the Underground Railroad, Harriet Tubman rescued 70 men and women from slavery. Tubman brought those slaves to Salem Chapel in St. Catharines, Canada.

Built in 1855, Salem Chapel is considered the oldest black church in Ontario Canada, and the last stop on the Underground Railroad. Over time the church, which houses a visitor museum, has deteriorated and is in need of a complete restoration.
"I wouldn't trust Uncle Sam with my people no longer; I brought them all clear off to Canada." -Harriet Tubman
“I want to use this special connection to Harriet and The Salem Chapel to remind people that freedom belongs to all, and we can unite around reconciliation, repentance, forgiveness, and building a future where we are free from any kind of shackle." -Ray Adamyk
Ray Adamyk had a dream about racial reconciliation. He wasn't sure what it meant at first, but knew he wanted to address the need for unity. When he found out he once lived near Salem Chapel, and heard the story of Harriet Tubman, he knew he wanted to focus on restoring the old church. As President of Spectra Company, one of America's leaders in restoring and preserving historical structures, Adamyk will donate time, expertise and labor valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars....but we still need your help!
