Announcements for Parents

Student Survey
It is important for us, as the Junior High School and district, to gain students’ feedback regarding at-home learning. You are probably aware that we are looking at the possibility of a different school schedule when we return to school in August of 2020 than what we are typically used to doing. Your students’ ideas about at-home learning will help us in deciding about changes that we may make to our schedule. Student’s feedback is vital for our success in working to make this the best educational experience that we can provide during these very difficult times. Please have your student click on this link to take the survey: https://forms.gle/XkZ9Gopc2XABDGHD8

Summer Reading
Summer is a great time to catch up on reading! Students can access Miss Thornbery's summer reading list here . Students can also access the Junior High Overdrive Sora , a collection of ebooks & audio books free of charge, by signing in with their school Google account. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Thornbery at sthornbery@springboro.org

Medications/Health Supplies : We have many students who have medications or other health supplies in our school clinic. If you currently need medication/supplies for your student, please contact Mrs. Hurley, building nurse, via email to arrange pick up. In addition, Mrs. Hurley is committed to helping students even from a distance. If you or your student have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Hurley. For assistance with any of these matters, please contact Junior High School nurse, Mrs. Patty Hurley, at phurley@springboro.org

Lunch Account Money : Lunch balances will roll over to next school year (2020-21), regardless of whether students remain in their current school building or are moving on to a new school building in the district. Their student ID number is their lunch pin number so it will remain the same. Iowa Testing Results
In February of 2020, all 7th grade students at the Junior High School took the IOWA assessments. Parents/guardians will receive complete IOWA score reports from the 2020 February Assessments with their student’s fourth quarter report card in the mail. Gifted identification letters for new identifications from the 2020 February IOWA assessments are being sent to parents/guardians via email. Please note, if your child has already been identified as gifted in this same area, then you will not receive an email. Emails are for new identifications only.

Immunizations
Incoming 7th graders for the 2020-21 school year are required to submit an immunization update by the start of the 2020-21 school year.

There are two vaccines required by the Ohio Department of Health for all incoming 7th Grade Students:
  • A diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus (Tdap) booster. This immunization needs to have been given no sooner than the child’s 10th birthday;
  • First Dose of the Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine
  • If you choose not to immunize your child, then an Exemption Letter must be completed. This can be found on the district website

With our buildings being closed, we are asking that all updated immunizations be scanned and submitted to the email address listed below:

Email address for incoming 7th Graders: immunizations7@springboro.org

Did you know that if you have an iPhone or iPad you actually have a scanner? You can use the "Notes App." Open a new note, press the camera button, the option to scan a document will pop up. Once the document is scanned you can email it with less file size than that of a photo. Follow these easy steps from Apple Support
