Prayer

Second Sunday of Advent

Merciful God, who sent your messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

What's the Difference between the E-News and E-Chronicle?

The E-News comes out twice a month, usually the closest business day to the 1st and 16th. It contains announcements for upcoming events and other important information that needs to get out.

The E-Chronicle, on the other hand, has less urgency. It comes out every other month, and reports on events that have already taken place.  It may also feature special interest stories and reflections from folks around the Diocese.

We're here to help you spread the word about any events you have coming up (E-News), and also sharing the results with others in the Diocese (E-Chronicle). Send over your fliers, notices, photos and stories... you never know whose life you could impact or inspire!

For more information on submitting information for an upcoming event click HERE. To share photos and information on an event that has taken place, click HERE.

Bishop's Online Bible Study Launched
If you haven't already checked it out, be sure to visit the Bishop's Bible Study page on the diocesan website to follow his yearlong plan that started on December 1, 2013, the beginning of Advent. Each week there will be a new video of the reading and his reflections, where the current week's videos are now posted.

In his Opening Address at the recent Annual Meeting of Convention, Bishop Fitzpatrick shared the desire expressed by members for shorter-term adult programs. "What I can offer is an online Bishop's Bible study to begin during the first week of Advent," said the Bishop. "I will post a weekly reflection with questions online. My hope is that as The Episcopal Church in Hawaiʻi we can walk through the Gospel according to Luke and Luke's Acts of the Apostles."

He goes on to say, "I also hope that through this Bible study, relationships will be formed and then leaders - lay and ordained - can be raised up. We have to keep learning about our faith and our communities. We do that together."

'Iolani Guild Christmas Luncheon

Come join the 'Iolani Guild as it closes out its Sesquicentennial year with its annual Christmas Luncheon on Saturday, December 14, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. The luncheon will be held at The Cathedral of St. Andrew in the Von Holt Room.

Come listen to two guest speakers: Tina Aiona will speak in remembrance of her late husband, the Reverend Darrow Aiona, and Bill Souza, the Protocol Officer for the Royal Order of Kamehameha, will speak on why we have protocol and its importance. Election of new officers will also be held.

Since we are all busy at this time of year, a catered luncheon has been ordered. The price has been subsidized by the Guild so that members only pay $10. A favorite tradition at the Guild's Christmas luncheons is always the gift exchange. Please bring a Hawaiian-oriented gift (of no more than $10 in value) to join in the gift exchange.

This luncheon promises to be fully packed and worth a precious December Saturday. For more information email Publicity Chair, Ann Hansen.
