Looking ahead to a New Quarter
The last day of quarter 2 is Thursday, January 23. During the second quarter, students focused on developing their understanding of who they are and what it means to be who they want to become. The third quarter is going to focus on growth and change, and using that growth and change to develop as an individual. Quarter 3 will begin on Monday, January 27.
Treehouse Community Breakfast
This Wednesday, January 22nd, all Treehouse Foundations classes will be coming together during period 1 to share some great food and have fun for a community breakfast. At Parkway one of our core values is "COMMUNITY - We foster and nurture relationships that strengthen all community members." This breakfast is an opportunity for us to celebrate each other and the end of a successful Cycle 2. If you would like to help, please bring store-bought pastries (muffins, breakfast bread, bagels, donuts, etc) or store-bought fruit to share. Students can also bring in $1 (or more) to assist in covering the cost of feeding our community. Please contact your student's Foundations teacher if you have any questions!
EDL Ending
Due to decreased participation, Extended Day Learning (EDL) will be coming to a close at Parkway on Wednesday, January 22. After this week, EDL will no longer be offered. Thank you to all the students and staff for their hard work and participation.
Food Support
A neighboring church will be providing backpacks of food once per month to Parkway staff to distribute to families. Students will bring the backpack home on the weekend and bring it back on Monday to refill for the next month. If your family would like to participate in this program, please contact Allison (Parkway social worker) at 651-744-5241 or allison.litzenberg@spps.org.
Erdkinder
We are excited to offer our 8th grade students an opportunity to participate in an Erdkinder experience. Montessori’s guidance for educating adolescents is rooted in the belief that students need to come to understand their place in the world and their responsibility to the Earth.

To meet this goal, our 8th grade learners, along with Parkway teachers, will be spending three days and two nights at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro, MN, February 19-21st. The cost of the trip this year is $70. Please contact your student's foundations teacher if you need information about fundraising. Forms and payments are due January 17th.
