May 2019 library news
Hello, library friends -

I spent a few days last week at the Wisconsin Association of Public Libraries conference, and it's always a great chance for me to get out and hear what other libraries are doing, connect with colleagues across the state, and learn from the many experts we have here in Wisconsin and beyond.

What struck me at this conference was the depth and breadth of what libraries do to help their communities. I attended sessions on "traditional" library activities like book selection, children's programs, and fundraising. But I also attended sessions on how libraries are working towards improving lives through community engagement, news and media literacy instruction, and educating our communities about online privacy. Librarians are a passionate bunch when in comes to protecting your freedom to access information and building the social and structural networks to make our communities better places to live, learn, and grow.

As always, we're planning lots of events and activities this month. Don't forget to visit our website or follow us on Facebook for the latest news. Happy spring!
