Creating the Next Denver Plan, Together
|
|
|
|
As 2020 begins, DPS is ready to embark on a journey of learning and growth with our students, families, educators, neighbors and partners. We’re reaching the end of the
Denver Plan 2020, which brings us an exciting opportunity to create a new strategic plan together with our entire community.
Through this process, we will articulate what matters most to us as members of the DPS community and what we believe will best support our students. The next Denver Plan will be our district’s "North Star," guiding the work of educators, leaders and teams, so that our efforts are aligned to our students’ needs.
Over the
next few months, we will be launching a citywide engagement effort so we can each play a role in setting the vision for the next Denver Plan. Stay tuned for more information about how you can participate. If you have questions, please send an email to
DenverPlan@dpsk12.org.

Maggie Flynn
Teacher, McAuliffe International School
Equity
"Maggie goes above and beyond to work toward understanding her own privilege as a white woman and to do everything she can to help students of color in her classes feel like they have a place, have agency, have a voice and have power.
I recently overheard a one-on-one conversation she had with a student prior to the unit on 'To Kill a Mockingbird.' Maggie was intentional in speaking individually to students of color prior to beginning the book. She recognized in a class of 33 students, most of whom are white, students of color might feel marginalized or even traumatized by the readings and conversations had in class. She made sure the student was prepared and that the student had some power in her decisions on how she would participate and how she would be supported by her teacher."
