If you're a parent in the West Contra Costa Unified School District or just interested in when schools may re-open, you are invited to join in a school board study session tonight (Wednesday, January 20) to hear from experts regarding the science around in person school sessions and COVID-19. This study session was proposed by Board President Mister Phillips.
This is an opportunity for the School Board, staff, and broader community to learn what the data and science are telling us about COVID-19 transmission and schools, including the academic and mental health effects of school closure.
There will be an opportunity for public comment and questions from the community.
The panel of speakers include:
Dr. Chris Farnitano, Health Officer, Contra Costa County
Dr. George Rutherford, UCSF Professor of Epidemiology, Preventative Medicine, Pediatrics, and Head of Division of Infectious Disease and Global Epidemiology
Dr. Jeanne Noble, UCSF Director of COVID Response
