2020 'Destination Spokane' Royalty
Our 17 Royalty Candidates are only a week in and they have been busy! Last week, they participated in "True Colors" training. This is a program that evaluates different personality types and how each can work together in a positive and professional manner. The training is led by Dawn Altmaier from Fairchild AFB. This is always an important program for both our Candidates and any of our Lilac leaders to participate in. It's a great way to learn about your own personality traits, but more importantly to learn how to successfully interact and succeed with someone who's personality type is different.
Over the weekend, the Candidates took part in one of our Royalty program's favorite traditions, the Etiquette Dinner. This training is lead by one of our Chaperones, Patt, as well as our past Court members. This year, the dinner was hosted by Queen Madison at her family home. Although it may seem like a training from the past, the skills and techniques the Candidates learn still apply to every day life as well as prepares them for upcoming events they will attend as Royalty (think - how to eat a messy wedge salad in a ball gown). We want to thank Mom Patt and the 2019 Royal Court for leading this helpful, and most importantly, fun training!
This weekend, the ladies will be participating in their first Community Service project. They'll be putting on their tool belts and hard hats to help with Habitat for Humanity. This, along with all of our community service projects, is a special opportunity for our Candidates to get out into the Community and represent the Lilac Festival. Rain, shine or snow, they are always ready and excited to help out!

Katelyn H.
Central Valley High School
Katelyn H. is the oldest of three girls! She is very close with her sisters, Brooklyn & Emily. They all share a love of ballet and enjoy being able to dance at the same studio and perform in the annual show together.
Katelyn is extremely involved with her school. She is currently one of the captains of Central Valley's cheer team (go Bears!) and a member of CV's concert and symphony orchestras. She is very musical, playing both the violin and piano and sings!
She is CV's representative on the high school student board for the JOYA charity. She loves being able to spend time with the children that participate with JOYA and feels honored to be a part of the organization.
In her downtime, she loves going to Starbucks, Ulta Beauty, painting with watercolors, reading and spending time outside on a hike. One of her favorite locations in Spokane to walk around is the Duncan Gardens at Manito Park. One day, she hopes to travel to the south of France with her Dad to visit where he lived for two years.
Katelyn plans to attend Brigham Young University next year to begin her studies in becoming a Nurse Practitioner. She hopes to live out her life long dream of becoming someone who makes an impactful difference in someone's life. We have no doubt she will.
Welcome to the Lilac family, Katelyn, and congratulations!

Kinsey
Cheney High School
Kinsey is the youngest sibling to her sister, Kaela and brother, Kameron. It is a full house with her parents and two dogs, Macey (a shih tzu) and Sawyer (a golden retriever). At home, she enjoys arts and crafts like DIY projects and painting on canvas.
She is currently the president of Cheney H.S.'s National Honor Society and is a board member of both the Cheney Youth Commission and Ronald McDonald Teen board. She is an avid volunteer and is involved with Pullman Regional Hospital, Blessings Under the Bridge and Project Beauty Share, among others. After high school, Kinsey plans to attend college to become a Registered Nurse specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care. One item on her bucket list is to create an organization that makes outfits for babies in the NICU.
Kinsey loves to travel, preferably somewhere warm, and has been as far as Italy and France. However, she loves living in Spokane, as it is a community that she feels is one big family that comes together to make Spokane a home for it's residents.
You can catch Kinsey grabbing a coffee at Dutch Bros or shopping at any of Spokane's many antique shops. She's a big chicken strips and lemonade fan (who isn't?) and loves a great love song.
Congratulations Kinsey on becoming Cheney's representative and we can't wait to get to know you more!

Elliana
Covenant Christian School
Elliana is the middle sibling and only sister to her brothers, Grant and Greyson. She also has a full house with four chocolate labs (Buck, Starbuks, River and Diesel). Who, if she could ask them a question, would be to find out why they have a fascination of stealing her socks!
She is very involved in her church's children's ministry program and loves volunteering at St. Joseph's nursing home. She loves being able to talk, sing and pray with the residents. Her dream job would be anything that allows her to help and work with kids, possibly a Naturopathic Pediatrician.
In her downtime, Elliana loves to hike, swim, ski, sing and hang out with her friends and family. She is a board game enthusiast and loves to read. She even knits and sews from time to time.
Although she has a lot of things she loves about Spokane, her favorite is how Spokane can put on a great event! From Hoopfest to, of course, the Torchlight Parade, she loves how our community can come together and show off our region.
Elliana is also a big Dutch Bros fan and loves a great fruit salad and strawberry lemonade. She loves shopping at Hope Outfitters and listening to Christian and Indie Pop music. Someday she hopes to travel around Europe; she's already been to Hawaii and soon, Thailand!
Welcome Elliana, and congratulations on being the very first Lilac Candidate from Covenant Christian!
