Abandoned Laneway
Our Real Estate Group led by senior partner Senior partner in
our Real Estate Group Partner
John Fox, together with the assistance of senior associate
Ladislav Kovac, completed the sale of a parking lot in Hamilton for $20M.
The initial acquisition of the site had uncovered that a
portion of the land was an abandoned laneway erroneously
missing from the land registry office’s electronic records and
last transferred in 1895. Due diligence undertaken by the firm
satisfied the Purchaser and their counsel of the vendor’s
ownership over the abandoned laneway and permitted the
transaction to close notwithstanding the title issues. The
lands are intended to be developed into high rise
condominiums.
