Wishing a fond farewell to alumni relations and stewardship officer, Patty Shoener
After nearly 20 years of dedicated service to Penn State Schuylkill, Patty Shoener, alumni relations and stewardship officer, has accepted a position as acquisition specialist/recruiter at the Penn State College of Medicine. Her last day working for Penn State Schuylkill will be Friday, February 11.
Shoener joined Penn State Schuylkill in April 2002 as the assistant to the director of development. While working full time, she completed an associate degree in business administration in 2005, and a bachelor’s degree in business in 2009, and was promoted to alumni and development specialist. She went on to earn her MBA from Alvernia University in 2011, and in 2012 was named to her current role. In 2015, Shoener became an adjunct lecturer for the campus, teaching business and management courses. She also serves as co-adviser of the Blue & White Society—the student club of the Penn State Alumni Association.
Throughout her time with the campus, Shoener has been recognized for her dedicated service, earning the 2007 Linda Fehr Memorial Award, the 2011 Staff Service Award, and the 2015 Pride and Spirit Award. She also received the Teamwork and Collaboration Award from Penn State University’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations in 2017. In addition, the Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society received numerous awards during Shoener’s tenure.
“Penn State Schuylkill will always be home to me,” stated Shoener. “I am a proud alumna, donor, and volunteer. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here. I’ve had the pleasure of working with so many great students, staff, faculty, and alumni, and will cherish those relationships forever.”
In Shoener’s honor, the Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society will launch a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to increase the endowment for their student scholarship. Additional information will be forthcoming.
