Small Area Plan
Did you miss this week's virtual meeting for the George W. Liles Parkway Small Area Plan process? That's OK, watch it here then complete the community input survey. The results will help establish a unified vision for future development along George W. Liles Parkway. Both the virtual community meeting and community input survey are available on the City's public engagement portal:  concord.publicinput.com .

Concord Police Department 2019 Annual Report
Chief Gary Gacek invites you to read all about the many accomplishments of the men and women of the Concord Police Department in the 2019 Annual Report .

Some highlights from 2019 include the new Police Cadet Program, implementation of a DWI Taskforce, an overall Part 1 Crime reduction of 5% compared to 2018 (overall 16% reduction compared to the 3 year average), enhanced recruiting efforts resulting in a current 100% staffing level, and numerous community outreach programs.

Emergency Management
Concord Emergency Management invites you to be ready for hurricane season. Today you can determine your personal hurricane risk, find out if you live in a hurricane evacuation zone, and review/update insurance policies. You can also make a list of items to replenish hurricane emergency supplies and start thinking about how you will prepare your home for the coming hurricane season that begins on June 1. Keep in mind, you may need to adjust any preparedness actions based on the latest  health and safety guidelines from the CDC  and local officials. City Council Highlights

Highlights:
  • Authorized the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Concord Greenway Townhomes LLC to receive +/- 10.33 acres between Wilkinson Court SE and Woodsdale Place SE at no cost.

  • Approved partial appropriation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funding in the amount of $102,384.41 to select public service agencies and organizations responding to immediate community needs related to COVID-19.

  • Adopted an amendment to the Neighborhood Matching Grant policy.
Operation Desert Drop
Who: Concord Community Development Staff,  Cooperative Christian Ministr y , loving neighbors, and volunteers.

What: Delivering boxes of food to a set location within predetermined qualifying communities. The initial goal is for each community to identify 40 households who are in need to receive food.

Goal: To help coordinate these events at least once a week, as food supplies are available with  Cooperative Christian Ministry .

City of Concord Receives Certificate of Excellence in Reliability
The recognition comes from the  American Public Power Association , a trade group that represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities.

The Association helps electric utilities track power outage and restoration data through its subscription-based eReliability Tracker service and then compares the data to national statistics tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration for all types of electric utilities. A New Union Streetscape
Going for a walk or a run this weekend? Take a turn down Union and be on the lookout for a glimpse into 2021. Not just to see what fundamental physical changes are coming but as a reminder that there will be life and activity back on these streets. These streets will hum with the sound of laughter and chatter again.We are  #ConcordStrong
