Principal's Corner
by Donna Laughlin
  • The totals are coming in from our PTL Walkathon fundraiser. So far we have raised over $7,000. Many thanks to those who donated in support of school ministry at Immanuel!
  • Our teachers and I were blessed to attend the Lutheran Education Association Convocation in St. Louis, Missouri. We attended a variety of sessions on social/emotional learning, the effects of social media on children, science, math, technology, language arts, mentoring, and faith development.
  • Our Elective Day in Grades 5-8 was a huge success. We very much appreciate all of the volunteers from our church and school community who gave generously of their time and talents to teach our students skills that are not necessarily covered in the day-to-day learning that takes place in our school. Our students learned wood lathe turning, sewing, cooking, glass etching, survival swimming, golfing, fishing, photography, ukulele playing, terrarium making, Google skills, astronomy, improv, calligraphy, and jewelry making with beads and essential oils. A heartfelt thank you to the many people who helped make this day possible!
  • Our cross country and varsity girls volleyball teams both qualified for state competitions. Our cross country team’s state meet is in Bloomington this weekend, and our varsity girls’ volleyball state competition is in Springfield Nov. 1-3. We pray that they will be safe in their travels, that they will do their best in competition, and that they will represent Christ in all that they do. Go Eagles!

Blood Drive Results
Thank you to all the blood donors who participated in our quarterly blood drive at Immanuel last weekend. A total of seven pints were donated, possibly saving 21 lives!
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school! Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app, available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.

If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can "double dip" during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.

Thanks for helping our school get what it needs!
