STRONG in STEAM

After a fantastic Invention Convention week, our Hawks are STEAM strong! We began our week with INSPIRATION day on Wednesday. Students spent time learning about inventors through research and class discussion. Then they started planning their inventions. Thursday was INNOVATION day. It was fun to see their creative imaginations at work as they built their inventions. We also had fun learning about two inventions at lunch, chopsticks and fortune cookies. Chef Kim even served an Asian-inspired stir-fry meal - yum! Friday was IGNITION day. Students completed their inventions and got them prepared for our big afternoon display. Parents joined us at 2 pm to view student inventions, and then we ended the day together with and wonderful time of outdoor fellowship! It was a wonderful week celebrating God's gift of imagination!

Monday, February 28: WCA NUTS Day!

No Uniforms to School Day! Students may wear their own casual attire; uniforms are not required. Please bring $1 donation for Home of the Good Shepherd Orphanage in Kenya and $1 if your student would like to buy ice cream at lunch.

Flag Football

WUMC is planning an Upward Flag Football Season for boys and girls grades 1st-6th. Evaluations will be on Feb 26 at 9 am. The season will be from March 5 - May 14. Practice and games will be on Saturdays on the fields behind the Family Life Center. The cost is $135.

Medication Reminder

Students are not allowed to have any medication (cough drops, eye drops, aspirin, etc.) in their possession. All medicine must be kept in the front office with a medication authorization form on file. Please refer to page 26 of the Family Handbook for more information.

Weddington Kids Consignment

March 4 & 5, 2022 Spring/Summer Sale

Weddington Kids Consignment is a semi-annual two day kids consignment sale organized by volunteers within the Susanna Wesley Circle that raises money to support local organizations and missions supported by Weddington United Methodist Church. Operation Reach-Out, Turning Point, House of Pearls, Camp Lurecrest, Matthews Help Center, UC Crisis Assistance, UC Community Shelter, The Closet of Southbrook Church, Dressed for Success, Help Crisis Pregnancy Center, and A Child's Place are examples of past organizations that have received monetary gifts and or unsold item donations from generous consignors.

Spring Basketball Clinic

All 3rd – 8th grade boys and girls are invited to join Coach Hastings, Coach Peeler and Coach Chris, for a fun six-week Spring Basketball Clinic.

We will meet on the following Fridays from 3pm to 4:30pm:

Board Game Club

Mrs. Potter and Mrs. Krahn will lead this fun time! Kids will learn how to win and lose with grace and good sportsmanship. A little devotion about God’s character will start each game time as well. Please email [email protected] to sign up.
