Historic Open House Tours
Happy Birthday Mother Colony House
|
|
It's the 165th birthday of the Mother Colony House!
The Mother Colony House is a symbol of Anaheim's viticulture era and it is the oldest remaining wood-framed building in Anaheim. This site was the first historical museum located in Orange County. George Hansen, the Los Angeles Vineyard Society superintendent, had the formidable task of creating a vineyard colony in this semi-arid region and built the Mother Colony house in 1857.
Learn more about the historic house at the Open House Tours on the first Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Founders’ Park.
