Thank You from the Steele Family

I wanted to thank you all for the unbelievable amount of love and support that you have shown to me and my family during my husband's illness and then his passing. There truly are no words that can appropriately express the deep level of gratitude that I have felt for everything you all have done to be there for us during what has undoubtedly been the most difficult point in our lives. The amount of love you have all shown for us is overwhelming! From all of the cards with heartfelt messages of love and condolences, an unfathomable level of generosity through donations, gift cards, Christmas presents, meals, treats, flowers, and most importantly your prayers, I am humbled and forever grateful. There is no way that I can ever repay these kindnesses to all of you individually, but know that I will find ways to pay that love forward. You all have literally saved us in our darkest days and I thank you. I have not been a part of the Watterson family for long, but it is clear God has brought me where I was meant to be. You all have been a huge help in getting me on the path to healing and I am comforted knowing that I have found my home with the Watterson community. We truly are a family and I am thankful to have you all in my support system. God bless!

Signora (Christina) Steele

Campus Ministry Cues

Whether the new year begins with a resolution or a general desire to refocus on what is important, it is good to remember that our faith is not in the new year, but in the One who makes all things new. The following items may offer some inspiration.

Holy Habits
An article in the National Catholic Register offers ideas for developing some new holy habits.

Setting Resolutions

Masses at BWHS

Class Masses will be offered for students in the coming weeks, beginning with the senior class today and the juniors on January 13. Sophomore and freshmen class Masses are planned in the weeks after finals.
The entire student body will participate in a live stream Mass for Life with Bishop Brennan on January 22.
Kairos Registration Open
Seniors are invited to sign up for one of the Kairos Retreats planned during the second semester. Kairos is a meaningful opportunity for seniors to reflect on their lives, spend quality time with their classmates and grow in relationship with God. Many students say it is a highlight of their senior year. Students must be on the yellow plan during the quarter in which they participate in the 3 ½ day retreat. Space is limited on each retreat. For February, spots for boys are still available; we have a waitlist for girls.

The retreat dates are Feb. 23-26, March 16-19, April 20-23 and they will be held at Maria Stein Retreat Center. The cost is $275 and a $100 deposit holds a spot. Partial and full scholarships are available through the Brendan Foley Memorial Fund. Email Mrs. Simmonds at mrs.simmonds@bwhs.com for more information on this or with any other questions.

To sign up, click on the button below (or go to bishopwatterson.com, on Student Life menu click Forms & Flyers) for the registration form to print and return to Campus Minister Mrs. Beth Simmonds.

Gray Learning Plan Policy Change

Based on our experience with first semester, we are making a change to our policy for students on the gray learning plan. When quarter three begins on January 25, students choosing to be on the gray learning plan are no longer eligible to participate in co- or extra-curricular activities. The choice to attend school remotely during the pandemic indicates a family’s intention to reduce the chance of exposure to COVID-19; participating in school-sanctioned co- or extra-curricular activities while attending classes remotely is inconsistent with that desire.
Administration will continue to evaluate our learning plans as we move through this unusual year.
Signups for the gray plan for third quarter will begin January 13. Watch for link in Wednesday News.
Submit Pics for Yearbook

Please submit pictures to mrs.rush@bwhs.org for any of the following: holiday family pictures, Then and Now pictures, any senior picture other than the headshot, any activity (sports, co-curricular, club, etc.), seniors with pets, etc. When submitting, please provide a brief description.
Senior Portraits Last Call

Prestige is offering last call opportunities for senior yearbook pictures. These will be January 20 and January 23. Please call the Prestige office at (614) 626-8708, option #3. If the senior fails to get these taken, no formal picture will be in the yearbook or the senior composite that hangs in the hallway.
Winter Weather Closure Notifications

Winter is on the way and so we thought this would be a good time to remind our community what happens if school is cancelled.
Bishop Watterson follows the Diocese of Columbus in determining weather-related closures. The Diocese continues to communicate through local media outlets.
In the event of a closure, we use the School Messenger system to send a phone message to parent cell phones on file with the school office. We will also get the word out through our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
ACT-SAT-PSAT

Juniors or seniors who are testing on any of the ACT or SAT test dates, please contact Karen Gallo for any test prep needs. Individual Zoom tutoring with Mrs. Karen Gallo is offered at times that will accommodate your schedule.
Virtual Open House Available 24/7
