This week, Jesus tells us that we must examine our own inner selves, our attitudes and dispositions, virtues and faults, rather than judging others. What is in our hearts comes out in what and how we speak. Read more...

With faith and in the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ, we regret to inform you of the passing of Reverend Robert S. Victoria, who went home to the Lord on Friday, Feb. 18.
He was 56 years old. Fr. Robert was born in the Philippines in a family of seven children. He migrated to Los Angeles in 1987 to finish his seminary formation in St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo and was ordained a priest on June 8, 1991 for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Fr. Robert enjoyed leading pilgrimages to many pilgrim sites, especially the Holy Land and Lourdes, France, and organizing retreats and days of prayer.
He enjoyed spiritual and inspirational readings, cooking, designing liturgical environments, and writing plays.
Fr. Robert joined St. Luke in late June as Administrator and brought many wonderful experiences to our parish, including the weekday Hour of Devotion, the Enthronement Weekend, and the beautiful outdoor nativity scene.
We will miss you, Fr. Robert! Please pray for Fr. Robert, his family and friends, and our parish community.

Together in Mission – Follow-up Weekend
Did you know? One in every five parishes needs financial assistance, and one in every four Catholic schools needs critical funds to keep their doors open. Our cumulative Together in Mission 2022 goal is $14.4 million—representing the Annual Appeal throughout all five regions of this archdiocese.
This year’s Parish Goal is $61,636. Our theme this year is “As One We Believe,” which is special because it reminds us that we are one family with Christ.
We are grateful to those parishioners who have given generously in the past to the archdiocesan annual appeal and have helped us meet our campaign goals.
This year there are four ways to give:
1) Complete the pledge form (in the pews) and drop it in the collection basket;
2) Scan the QR Code on the pledge envelope to make an electronic gift;
3) You may also make a gift by texting ‘Believe’ to 213-397-0682;
4) You may visit togetherinmission.org to make an online donation.
Please make checks payable to “Together in Mission.”
If you haven’t already done so, we invite you to prayerfully discern with family members your sacrificial gift. Thank you on behalf of the more than 15,000 students, and their families attending the schools this campaign supports, as well as the approximate 525,000 families living in the 67 parish communities and 75 Catholic schools that will benefit from your generosity.Together, let’s make a difference for our schools and parishes.

Help Save Lives by Praying for an End to Abortion
March 2 through April 10
In just a few days, on Wednesday, March 2, we enter the Holy season of Lent. We also begin the spring campaign of 40 Days for Life, the world’s largest grassroots movement to end abortion.
Twice a year, 40 Days for Life (https://40daysforlife.com/) uses a peaceful approach of prayer, fasting, vigil and community outreach to change hearts and minds. God has used 40 Days for Life to establish a proven track record of saving lives and closing abortion facilities in over 1,000 cities in 64 countries. Nationwide and beyond, since its beginnings in 2007, the campaign has witnessed 20,729 babies saved, 229 abortion workers quit, 114 abortion centers closed, and many repented victims.
The crisis of abortion is enormous. A tragedy of epidemic proportions, abortion is the leading cause of death in the world, taking an estimated 40 million innocent lives every year. Equally tragic is the number of people who endorse and support abortion. This sobering news should move us to pray, fast and witness.
The defense of the unborn is ultimately a spiritual battle. The devil does so much to try to distract us away from the One we serve -- Jesus Christ. Christ told us some demons can only be driven out by prayer and fasting. These two go hand in hand. Prayer keeps us rooted in the fact that it is our desire to carry out God’s will. Fasting is a sacrifice that helps us reach beyond our own limitations with God’s help. Knowing that “with God, all things are possible,” people of faith and conscience unite in 40 days of prayer and fasting.
Are you looking for ways to pray or fast more during Lent? Please join this powerful life-saving work to end abortion and SAVE MORE LIVES! We will have an information and sign-up table outside of the Sunday Masses next weekend, March 6. Prayerfully consider signing up for just ONE HOUR to stand peacefully and pray as a witness to life. Our vigil site is the public right-of-way outside Planned Parenthood El Monte, at 4786 N. Peck Road, El Monte (corner of Peck and Lower Azusa). Hours are 7:00 am and 7:00 pm daily during the 40-day vigil.
We will also be blessed with a visit from Matt Britton, General Counsel and board secretary of 40 Days for Life national headquarters. Come be a part of this exciting event on Saturday, March 5, at 2:00 pm at the El Monte Planned Parenthood vigil site.
Our group needs your presence! To volunteer, please sign up at our table outside of Masses on March 6, at www.40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/el-monte/, or contact our area’s 40 Days for Life coordinator, Glendy, at (626) 756-6934 or by e-mail at latinaglendy@gmail.com. For more information or questions, please e-mail stlukesjc@gmail.com or leave a message for Wendy at (626) 233-0786.
