Spring Commencement Moves Online
The University of South Florida announced plans to hold virtual commencement ceremonies on May 9 to recognize thousands of graduates denied the traditional diploma walk due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Spring graduates also have the chance to be recognized during the summer commencement exercises, tentatively scheduled for August.

Aramark Donates to Bulls Pantry
USF Dining Services staple Aramark has donated 650 pounds of food to the Feed-A-Bull pantry. Due to the increased need, the pantry has expanded its reach beyond students and has opened its shelves to faculty and staff during the pandemic.
Survey to Pinpoint Virus Hot Spots
USF Health researchers are hoping a community survey will help better identify local pockets of the coronavirus. The survey will gauge which residents may be experiencing mild symptoms and pinpoint the areas susceptible to becoming a coronavirus cluster.
USF Announces Pandemic Network
The University of South Florida launched the Pandemic Response Research Network™ , an interdisciplinary collaboration of scientists whose research addresses the issues surrounding epidemics.

Generous donors have contributed to the new USF Health Pandemic Research & Response Fund , which supports research efforts in the fight against the coronavirus.

Nurse Educator Chosen for Elite Program
The USF College of Nursing's nurse anesthesia program director Michelle Canale, DNP, CRNA, APRN, has been accepted into a competitive fellowship designed for promising academic nursing leaders.

Dr. Canale will be part of the 2020-2021 class of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing program. The on-site portion of the program is scheduled for November in Minnesota.
PhD Student Wins AACN Scholarship
USF College of Nursing doctoral student Rebecca Koerner was recently awarded the January 2020 CastleBranch GNSA scholarship through the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

She was one of two students chosen from more than 100 applicants. Two $2,500 scholarships are given out each semester, with a total of four scholarships each year.
