NEW EDITORIAL
BY ELANA STROBINSKY
NEUFELD FACULTY MEMBER, ISRAEL

When a child is born, so is an endless list of parenting duties that changes from one stage to the next. And, while fulfilling our duties makes us responsible parents, if that is all we do then we’re missing the point.

As a mother of five, I know this all too well. It’s so easy to get lost in the mundane, the ins and outs of parenting: sleepless nights, sinks full of dishes, piles of laundry, school lunches, carpools, homework, chores, baths and bedtimes. All these take up a significant part of our day, resources and energy, and all of these are a vital part of our parental duties; if we didn’t do them, we’d be irresponsible, perhaps neglectful. But if this is all we do, if we parent through our duties only, is this truly parenting?

The essence of parenting isn’t what we do; it’s our state of mind. It’s the conscious choice we make each and every day to ... READ THE REST OF ELANA'S EDITORIAL →

Could you use a new perspective on parenting? Dr. Neufeld's parent education series, The Power to Parent , offers a complete approach to parenting. Rather than dumbing parents down with prescriptive solutions and superficial strategies, this series truly informs and educates so that parents can become the true experts in their children’s lives. The basic attachment and developmental needs of children are uncovered so that parents can become the answer to these needs. Challenging problems are explained is such a way that the root problems can be addressed. P art 1 of this series, The Vital Connection , starts on October 8, 2019 (see the 2019-20 Scheduled Online Class section below for details).

UPCOMING WEBINAR
PRESENTED BY JULE EPP

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2019
10:00 AM TO 11:30 AM PACIFIC
$25 PER PERSON
How often Jule Epp has heard parents of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) telling her these painful truths: “When I come into the room, he doesn’t even notice me.” “When I try to hug her, she pushes me away.” “Whenever I try to be with him, he tells me he wants to be by himself.” Or even “She only comes to me when she wants something, when she needs me to get something for her. She doesn’t see me as a person.”

The webinar will address how we can understand the desperate move to resist attachment that we see in the child diagnosed with ASD and explore how this rejecting behaviour can make us as adults feel and how we tend to respond to it.

Jule will lead the Making Sense of Hypersensitivity online class starting October 16th.
All of our scheduled online classes are recorded. If you can't fit a live class into your day-time schedule, you can keep up by watching the recording later in the week.

Our online courses include access to our Virtual Campus and feature online support, discussion forums, study guides, supplementary resources, and much more.
