A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR KLING
As the coronavirus continues to rise again in our community, it's been suggested we should identify a target goal to reach together.

Southwest District Health (SWDH) has recommended the 7-day moving average of daily confirmed and probable cases as a good indicator to reference. With a population of approximately 100,000 people in Nampa, SWDH recommended a good target number not to exceed is 10 cases per day (on the 7-day moving average) in Nampa.

We are currently at 31 cases as of yesterday, Oct. 15. We can do better. Thank you for doing your part so we can keep our schools and businesses open and our community healthy.
-Mayor Debbie Kling

NAMPA FIRE DEPARTMENT AND RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT PROPOSED CONSOLIDATION
In 2007, Nampa Fire Station #5 opened, and since that time, we have seen our population significantly increase, and our calls for service rise from 6,000 to now over 10,000 calls a year. Unfortunately, as the city has grown, the time it takes for us to respond to a fire or medical call continues to increase! As we explore options which would provide a stable and sustainable solution for those we serve, we’d like feedback from you – the residents and businesses who trust and depend upon us – on a proposed consolidation between the City of Nampa’s Fire Department and the Nampa Fire District, which surrounds city limits.

We’re holding three town hall events to share information about the proposal and get your feedback.
  • Town Hall 1 | Wednesday, October 21 | 6 PM at the Hugh Nichols Safety Building // 820 2nd St. S
  • Town Hall 2 | Tuesday, October 27 | 12 PM at Fire Station #4 // 2112 W Flamingo Ave
  • Town Hall 3 | Wednesday, October 28 | 6 PM at Fire Station #2 // 1001 E. Greenhurst Road

Can't attend? Please visit http://www.cityofnampa.us/fire for more information. Residents who have additional questions or concerns can contact the Nampa Fire Department by calling 208-468-5570 or emailing nfdfireadmin@cityofnampa.us.
HAVE YOU SEEN OUR NEW VIDEO?
The City of Nampa has partnered with the Nampa Chamber of Commerce, One Idaho and the Idaho Press to continue support for our local businesses.

Our latest efforts include a short video and poster for our businesses to display, encouraging customers to help keep businesses open and remain healthy through the coronavirus pandemic.

The poster (left) can be picked up at the Nampa Chamber of Commerce or the Mayor's office at Nampa City Hall.

The Nampa Chamber of Commerce has graciously agreed to be a one-stop shop for all local businesses, and has a variety of other resources including free masks, hand sanitizer and COVID-19 related signs in English and Spanish.

Please show your support for our community by taking the One Idaho pledge at one.idaho.gov.

WE ARE NAMPA
Here are a few feel-good stories from this week in case you missed it...
Woman's Century Club celebrates 120 years of education & community service to Nampa
The Woman's Century Club was the first service club established (1900) in Nampa and this week they celebrated 120 years of education and community service by planting a syringa bush at the Ford Idaho Center Horse Park to commemorate their anniversary.
Snake River Training is holding an event called "Lift Up Nampa" to support the Boys & Girls Club of Nampa!

The Boys & Girls Club of Nampa serves an average of 230 kids per day and 91% of these club members have 1 or 2 working parents and still fall below the poverty line. Many families can’t afford the Club’s fees, and those are the ones that need the Club’s educational programs and after school safe space the most - that’s where our community comes in!
October is
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
The Nampa Family Justice Center is HERE TO HELP. Please visit their website for more information or call the Idaho Domestic Violence hotline at 1-800-669-3179.
PROFESSIONAL BULL RIDERS ASSOCIATION TEAMS UP WITH MAN UP CRUSADE TO FIGHT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
