Hi everyone –
Thanks to so many of you for participating in all the events associated with our Fall Festival weekend! Golf, Tennis, Ski Swap, Fit Day, bike ride – it was all fun, well attended, and just such a joy to see familiar faces again, even if I could only see your eyeballs…and I apologize to anyone I may have inadvertently snubbed. Recognizing people with masks on is hard work!
I was especially grateful to see good mask wearing and quick adjustments to our new normal. As I overheard one mom say in Town Square, “Well, when you’re from Massachusetts, you basically just sleep with a mask on these days, so this is no big deal.” As we all know, mask wearing is the single biggest thing we can do to keep ourselves and our communities safe during the continued spread of Covid-19. Thanks to everyone for your support and participation in this effort.
The coaching staff at WVBBTS and WVA have continued conversations about our winter operations.

Thanks to the very hard work of the coaches, we have a fairly good draft of various competition calendars which we’ll hopefully be circulating soon, pending approval by many different resorts. All calendars are a house of cards, dependent on the cooperation of lots of resorts and clubs. If you see coaches with smoke coming out of their ears, trust that they’ve been working on the competition calendars.

We are continuing to discuss the best possible daily schedule for families. The short version: there is no single schedule which is BEST for all families. Our plan right now is to be as methodical as possible – we’re going to try to change one variable at a time, and then adapt as feedback indicates. The first variable we know about is that we’ll have limited lodge access. So rather than change the daily schedule for all groups in advance of the season before we know how the day feels, we are going to stick to a more-or-less “normal” daily rhythm of a morning session and an afternoon session for all BBTS groups other than Mitey Mites. We expect to have lots of feedback about how lunch in the car works or feels, and then we’ll iterate based on our experiences.
- Mitey Mites will be shifting to a single daily session
- Athlete Support Credits – it does not look like we’ll have fewer events at WV this year (which is both good and bad!) and so as of right now there’s not expected to be any change to families’ athlete support credits. However, with the USSS-mandated smaller field sizes, each event day should be shorter!
Looking forward to seeing you all very, very soon!
