What is Rosacea?
Seeing red is never a good thing, especially when it comes to your complexion!
Rosacea is a common chronic inflammatory skin condition.
Who gets Rosacea?
Rosacea is most commonly found in people with fair skin. Signs & symptoms include warm-feeling, dry, or swollen skin, a dusky brown discoloration & acne-like breakouts.
Tips for Managing Rosacea?
The true root cause of rosacea is unknown. It's a systemic, inflammatory skin disease for which there is no known cure. Get your skin to a much better place by working with a professional, identifying your triggers, and building the right skincare routine.
See a Dermatologist!
Having worked with several rosacea patients, I'm happy to share tips to help you manage your rosacea. My first though...see a dermatologist to confirm that you’re dealing with rosacea and not something else.!
Know your Triggers!
When it comes to rosacea management, I can’t stress this enough:
Learn. Identify. Know. Your. Triggers.
Here's many well-known triggers:
· Sun exposure
· Emotional stress
· Wind
· Heat [weather, baths, showers, saunas, hot tubs]
· Alcohol & Spicy foods
· Exercise
· Some skincare ingredients/medications
Because it’s so individual, become your own skin detective! I recommend keeping a journal to help identify your personal triggers to identify patterns. Once you do you’ll be a step closer to clearer, calmer skin.
Build a Routine & Stick to it!
You’ll want to avoid product hopping, so it's important to build a consistent routine with the right products.
Tips for Building a Routine for
Managing Rosacea
1. Cleanse gently, every day
This means both morning & evening.
Use a simple, creamy (sulfate-free) cleanser. You may want to try my new products: Power Pink Balancing Cleanser or Luxurious Creamy Wash!
2. NEVER skip sun protection!
Use a broad-spectrum PHYSICAL sunscreen every day! I recommend Skinfiniti Ultamatte, AlumierMD's Clear Shield or Moisture Matte.
3. Exfoliate ~carefully!
Removing dead cell buildup from the skin will balance your moisture barrier to help reduce flare-ups. But, proceed with caution & find the right product for your skin. Consider my new product: Slough-Away! - a gentle exfoliating powder.
4. Hydrate
As is the case with pretty much any skin condition, maintaining a healthy moisture barrier is key. Drink your water please!
