Greetings!

As we approach the season of Pentecost this month -

Touch Me with Truth That Burns Like Fire

Lord,
send the gift of your Spirit
to fill this place
and myself
and the world.

Touch me
with truth
that burns like fire,
with beauty
that moves me like the wind;

and set me free, Lord
free to try new ways of living;
free to forgive myself and others;
free to love and laugh and sing;
free to lay aside my burden of security;
free to join the battle for justice and peace;
free to see and listen and wonder again;
at the gracious mystery of things and persons;

free to be,
to give,
to receive,
to rejoice as a child of your Spirit.

And, Lord,
teach me how to dance,
to turn around
and come down where I want to be,
in the arms and heart of your people
and in you,
that I may praise and enjoy you forever.

BETHESDA APARTMENT UPDATE as of 4/29

A great deal of progress has been made to the construction of Bethesda’s apartment. Volunteers have been working very hard. Larry Jorstad was a steadfast worker on many tasks. About 70% of the sheetrock has been hung.

Thanks to Gordy Anderson, Mike Kelly, Mike Herrick, Al Reedy. The rest should be done before Mon. Loren La Pointe and crew will be taping and mudding soon.

The LED lighting has been installed, thanks to Dave Judd. The electrical work is mostly done thanks to John Hunt.

Plumbing is almost complete thanks to Tom Filipczak!

Following the sheetrock completion, we need painters—for walls and cupboards. Please let us know how you can help.

Thank you, Bethesda for the opportunity to use this church space. This apartment will make a real difference in people’s lives!

If you have questions, or would like to pursue the idea of helping, please contact project coordinators Paul & Paula Lundberg 715-779-0113 or volunteer coordinator Declan Lowthian at
405-229-1694 or email at
[email protected] and let them know what your areas of expertise are and availability.

Returning to Church

We move forward with opening but may well have to be in a position of moving backward depending on what the numbers say.

PHASE ONE -
Correctly worn face masks, social distancing, and no hugging are mandatory.
Please consult your doctor about attending in-person worship if you have not finished your round of vaccines.

There will be an effort made to reduce movement and worship time (30-40
minutes).

The kitchen will be closed.

The coat closet will be closed – take your jackets with you.

Hymnals will be removed.

Door and windows will be opened – use your jacket if you feel chilled.

There will be a separate entrance and exit to control traffic flow. Our guests in the basement will need to use their entrance from the side yard.

Because there will be more responsibility put on the ushers, there will be usher training.

Ushers will wear gloves.

There will be no singing.

Parishioners are asked to sign up for worship, using email or phone. This will allow for attendance control and a list of worshipers in case we need to
notify people because of a Covid 19 outbreak.

Process -
An usher will greet parishioners at the alley/fellowship door and check of their name on the list. This usher will then escort them to the Worship Area entrance where another usher will usher them to a pew and give them a bulletin and communion elements.

Mary will sit in the altar area.

Parishioners are asked to stay in their assigned area for the duration of the
service, standing and sitting as per the bulletin.

Ushers will usher parishioners out at the end of the service.

Mary can greet parishioners as they leave, but no hand shaking or hugging.

There will be an offering plate outside the worship door.

The exit will be through the door at the parking lot.

There will be no coffee fellowship.

PHASE TWO CHANGES -
No worship sign up will be required. Ushering to the pew will continue.
Using both entrances for coming and going.
Limited singing with masks.
Encourage parishioners to bring a thermos of coffee and a cookie and go out into the yard for coffee fellowship.

Native American Worship Service

Joining us in celebration of Mother's Day. We will welcome Dee Sweet on May 9th for "The Mother's of us all: A Mother's Day Observance"

The history of Mother's Day is little know but significant for all mother's. Additionally, the concept of Mother/mothering is universal of course but has some prevailing cultural values in native communities that focus on the intuitive wisdom belonging to women in each community.
Vaccinated people met at Immanuel to make small leather pouches and listen to Elder and Storyteller, Jim Pete from Red Cliff. Fry Bread and Indian Tacos, laughter and great vibes made for a glorious time. Thank you to Jim and all who participated!
