HELP FOR THOSE IN NEED

One of our values at VRBC is being hilariously generous, and we want to practice that individually and also as a church body. Romans 12:13 encourages us to "Share with the Lord's people who are in need." Here are several ways that we do that:
  • For those who are actively involved in worship or Grow Groups at VRBC for at least the past two months, our deacons have a benevolence ministry to provide financial assistance. For more information or to request assistance, email Amy Wilkins at awilkins@vrbc.net.
  • For additional help, or for those who are not active at VRBC, we partner with Metrocrest ServicesChristian Community Action, and Irving Cares. These partners provide many resources such as financial assistance, job search and networking help, food pantries, and other resources from trained case managers. Several of these partners are currently offering back-to-school assistance for clothing, school supplies, and more.
  • Our VRBC pastors and deacons would also love to be praying for you. You can email any prayer requests or care needs to care@vrbc.net.
  • Maybe God is calling you to provide help for those in need. To give toward our benevolence fund, you may give online and select "Benevolence" in the drop-down options. Visit our Serve page to volunteer with our community benevolence partnersTo learn more about volunteering on VRBC's Prayer Team, Benevolence Team, or Member Care Team, email Amy Wilkins at awilkins@vrbc.net
SABBATICAL DEVOTIONS

Pastor Larry is currently on sabbatical, but before he left, he recorded several encouraging videos for the church. You can check out this week's installment by clicking hereIn addition, Larry would love to pray for you while he is gone! You can share your requests with him here.
VBS: LOOK WHAT YOUR KIDS ARE UP TO!

"Rocky Railway" is off and running and VBS 2021 is going strong! More than 230 children and volunteers are filling VRBC with songs and games and lots of laughter! What a treat it is to see so many smiling faces as these kids learn how they can trust Jesus to do big things in their lives!

HOW TO PRAY FOR VBS: Please lift up in prayer all those involved in this special ministry. In particular, please pray for the safety of the children, volunteers, and staff; for social and spiritual connection among participants and leaders; and for all the logistical details necessary for a safe and successful week.

MISSION WEEK 2021 IS NEXT WEEK!

Next week, our VRBC Student Ministry will be embarking on Mission Week 2021. A group of more than 80 students and leaders will be traveling throughout the metroplex, visiting 8 locations, where they will be serving the local community. Their serve sites include Cornerstone Baptist Church, Metrocrest Services, and Mission Arlington.

HOW TO PRAY FOR MISSION WEEK: Please pray for the students and leaders, that all the participants would experience the joy in serving the Lord together, for all the logistical details necessary for a safe and successful week, and for all those they will be serving.

COMMUNITY BIBLE STUDY
TUESDAYS | 7:00 TO 8:30 PM | BEGINS AUGUST 31

For the past several years, VRBC has hosted Community Bible Study (CBS) on Tuesday evenings. As a supplement to your Grow Group experience, CBS can offer you a great opportunity to dive a little deeper into Bible study.

CBS offers men's, women's, couples, young adult, and children and youth classes. Beginning in August and running through May, they plan to meet in person right here at VRBC on Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Participants receive a course book that includes a commentary and home study questions for each week's lesson. Each week, you'll have the opportunity to participate in a small group discussion led by your Core Group Leader and finish the evening by attending an all-class teaching time led by the CBS Teaching Director.

Registration is $35 for adults and $10 for kids (and covers all course materials you'll need for the entire year). (Scholarships are available if your budget is tight.) Come find out what can happen in your life when you grow with God through the study of His Word!

When: Tuesday evenings, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm
Dates: August 31 through May 3
Where: VRBC
Study: Christian Living, including Philemon; 1, 2, and 3 John; James; and 1 and 2 Peter

"LIFTOFF" CONTINUES THIS SUNDAY
SUNDAY | JUNE 20 | 9:30 AM

There's nothing quite like the moment when a rocket lifts off from the launch pad. Leveraging the amazing amount of energy stored in the rocket's fuel tanks and the astounding thrust generated by its engines, the spacecraft that was previously firmly affixed to the ground escapes the hold of gravity and rises into orbit.

After Jesus ascended into heaven, the small group of believers he left behind appeared as if they had little chance of surviving as a movement, much less becoming a worldwide church of billions of people! But somehow, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the early church "lifted off" and became something none of them could have ever imagined.

Join us this Sunday as we continue a sermon series called "Liftoff" where we talk about the factors that led to the unexpected growth of the early church. As we study the book of Acts together, we'll see that the elements that led to the growth of the early church can lead us to experience "liftoff" in our personal lives as well.
