Meditation Moment

From the Pastor ....

"God's compassions never fails.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

(Lamentations 3:22-23)

Entering the CLC last Wednesday as teens enjoyed games, the song, "Unwritten," by Natasha Bedingfield aired over the loudspeakers filling my heart with hope. She sings, "staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty windows let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find...live your life with arms wide open. Today is where your book begins. The rest is still unwritten." Released in 2004, I remember distinctly that this song also aired on the radio the first time I drove into Rochester, Minnesota as I began pastoral ministry. It's a song of hope for a new day, excitement and openness to life.

This morning as I stared out my living room windows while drinking coffee, I saw the gorgeous sunrise illuminate the day. Amidst the sea of boxes and clutter leftover from a moving truck delivery, I pray in wonder as we begin this new day at Our Savior's. Today is also a new day for you! Creation is God's first Bible. Each morning is a new day, a resurrection, a wonder to behold. God is faithful. Who knows what the Author of Life has in store for you today? Whatever is written on your page, each morning is a chance for a fresh clean start. Today is full of possibilities and hope. Jesus is with you on this journey.

Eternally,

Pastor Karna

God has blessed us with a beautiful world.  Join members of the OSLC Care of Creation Committee on October 13th to learn about our congregation's new mission to care for creation.

This empowering presentation will explain:
1) the Covenant for the Care of Creation adopted by our church board,
2) the bible's charge to protect our earth,
3) the connection to social justice and caring for the poor, and
4) some easy steps you can make to care for the earth.

Help restore and preserve God's creation.

If you are willing to make some cookies please let Nancy Fjestad know. (No peanuts please.) There are 20 graduates who will receive a care package and they will go in the mail on October 28. Cookies can be packaged 3 to a bag so they each get a variety. If leaving cookies before that Monday, please leave them in the office work room rather than in the kitchen and mark them "HS Care Packages." Thank you!

It seems early but Advent will be here before we know it. The women of OSLC will once again be holding 6 Advent Teas and are in need of 6 women to host a tea and 6 women to serve as leaders at a tea, which will be held the first week of December.  If you are able/willing to host or lead, please let Susan Fredricksen or the church office know so the teas will be set up in November.  Thank you so much!
OSLC Drama Team

Drama can be a meaningful way to enhance worship and other programs within the church. We are looking for a team of people who could help create/participate in these opportunities. If interested or if you have questions, please contact worship committee member Traci Glaser
