Dear District 67 Families,

Due to the metrics and Superintendent Simeck’s decision to implement an adaptive pause to our current learning model, District 67 will shift from the Hybrid In-Person Model to an adaptive pause that will include a Remote Learning Model + Services. This model will be in place until we can pivot back towards the Hybrid In-Person Model or we need to pivot to a more restrictive model of fully remote. Students in AVA will not be affected by this transition. 
 
Superintendent Simeck will provide ongoing information based upon data from the health department on the length of time we will be in the adaptive pause and how we will determine when we return to the Hybrid In-Person Model. For now, please know we are shifting to a Remote Learning Model + Services starting on October 30. 
 
Here is the timeline for the next two weeks:
 
Friday, October 23: No student attendance (Parent Teacher Conferences)
Monday, October 26: Thursday, October 29: Continue with Hybrid In-Person Model
Friday, October 30: No student attendance (Remote Learning Planning Day)
Monday, November 2: Asynchronous remote instruction for all students (CII Day)
Tuesday, November 3: No student attendance (Election Day)
Wednesday, November 4: Start of Remote Learning Model + Services
  • Students with individual education plans (IEPs) may be invited to return for instruction based on need as was done earlier in the year. Teams will meet to decide on schedules and needs as we did in the beginning of the school year. Staff will reach out to families of students who are being invited by Wednesday, October 28. 
  • Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will return to school in the Hybrid In-Person model. We recognize the need for our youngest learners to be in person. As a result of the county’s recommendation, we are taking additional mitigation measures by significantly reducing the number of students in the building.
  • Grades 2-8 will learn synchronously from home for all of their subjects with teacher guidance similar to the first two weeks of the school year. While the physical location will change, the daily schedule will remain the same. We will continue to collaborate with Superintendent Simeck and review guidance from the Lake County Health Department in hopes of offering more students the opportunity to return to in person hybrid learning when it is safe to do so. 
Monday, November 16: Adaptive pause ends, pending continual review by Superintendent Simeck. All PreK-8 students return to Hybrid In-Person Model.

For students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and individuals who will be invited to return in person, all safety and risk mitigation protocols will remain in place. The District’s learning spaces will allow for increased social distancing in the buildings and include additional cleaning. Transportation for these students will continue, and all arrival, dismissal, and self-certification procedures will remain the same.
