Important Reminder Regarding the AHAI Suspension Review Process
AHAI SUSPENSION REVIEW will not take complaints from parents, players, coaches or anyone other than the club presidents. If a party thinks they were wronged in some way on the ice, the complaint MUST be submitted to the club president. If he or she reviews the matter and feels it needs to be addressed by SUSPENSION REVIEW , then they should present it to the Chair, Kevin Bolger.

Register Today for the 2020 Illinois State Girls Hockey Championships!
B y Anita Lichterman, AHAI Girls Chair - It's time to register for the 2020 Illinois State Girls Hockey Championships! All organizations with Girls Tier II or Tier III teams have been sent an email that includes the 2020 Girls State Tournament Invitation Packet -  click here to view. Please don't delay, register early to be part of the excitement.  Important note: Any player that is double rostered on two (2) National Bound level teams must declare for which team she will play in the State Tournament by Dec. 31, 2019. A player may not play on two (2) teams (e.g. one Girls and one Youth team) in the State Tournament that are at the National Bound level (14U, 16U, 19U).

Locker Room Policy: Keeping Our Skaters & Coaches Safe
By Jim Clare, Illinois Coach-in-Chief - As the season moves along toward playoffs, it is a good time for a reminder to coaches, managers, and parents about locker room policies. The number one priority we all have is to keep our skaters safe. Part of that charge is handling locker rooms.  As a former club president, I can honestly say over 13 years I never once had a locker room issue when an adult was in the locker room. Perspective Important When It Comes to Holiday Tournaments
By Greg Bates, Special to AHAI - The holidays can be a busy time for youth hockey players.  Juggling competing in tournaments and practicing hard to improve as a player are important areas to focus on.  However, AHAI Coach-In-Chief Jim Clare stresses to athletes to remember what the holidays are really about.  "It's also family time and it's also time to spend with others, not just hockey people," Clare said. "Don't overdo it. You've got a Christmas tournament, you've got a Thanksgiving tournament, you've got a Martin Luther King tournament. At some point, when is enough, enough?" READ MORE>>

John Conenna ~ Coaches' Category
John was born and raised in the village of Norridge, Illinois, during the late 1960's and through the 1970's hockey became the theme of his neighborhood. Playing on the streets was John's first introduction to the game and then on to the nearby ponds and over to his first league which was in the neighboring village of Harwood Heights. Hockey was by far John's favorite sport and it became a daily passion for him. Some of his favorite idols growing up were Tony Esposito, Glenn Hall, and the great Stan Mikita. Throughout his playing career, John was a goaltender from his start in youth hockey, continuing in high school, and also in college at Loyola University. READ MORE>>

28 American Officials Named to IIHF Championships and Youth Olympic Games
USA Hockey recently announced that 28 American officials have been selected to serve as referees or linesmen for International Ice Hockey Federation world championships in 2019-20, in addition to the 2020 Youth Olympic Games. Calling All Squirts! Join Us for the Mini 1-on-1 Challenge at Fifth Third Arena on January 3rd!
In partnership with AHAI, the Mini 1-on-1 Challenge allows participants to showcase their skills while contending to become the top shooter or goalie in the Squirt-age division. The competition will take place at Fifth Third Arena on January 3, 2020. The top two goalies and top two skaters will battle for the championship at the United Center during the intermission of the Chicago Blackhawks home game on January 11, 2020! Girls United Hockey is Back and Looking to Build Off Success

2020 High School State Tournament Seeding, All-State & Showcase Team Selection Process

Blackhawk Alumni Association Scholarship Application
The Chicago Blackhawk Alumni Association (CBAA)  distributes college scholarships annually to the three most deserving high school hockey players. Awards are determined from a candidate's level of community service, volunteerism, good citizenship, academic performance as well as the hockey talent of the individual. Recipients will receive an annual $7,500.00 scholarship over four years for a total of $30,000. Maine Township Has Had 'Some Really Memorable Moments' This Season, Looking for More
By Ross Forman - Junior defenseman Cian Duffy secured the 3-2 victory for Maine Township over host Waubonsie/Metea on Oct. 19 in Naperville with a shootout goal.  That came in the 16th round.  "We've been lucky so far to have some really memorable moments," this season, said Maine head coach Greg Mrofcza.  There was, for instance, the game against Wheaton West on Nov. 15 in Park Ridge. "(We scored) a goal to give us the win in regulation-time, (but the goal) was waived off, ruled to have been scored just after time expired," Mrofcza said. READ MORE>>

Over 350 Kids Tried Hockey For Free in Illinois in November; Fifth Third Arena Led the Way with 100 Skaters!
Jim Clare, AHAI VP of Membership - USA Hockey's Try Hockey For Free Day is in its 10th year with over 200,000 kids haven taken part in the event during that time. This year there were 11,500 skaters nationwide that participated in the November 9th THFF day. In Illinois, we had 15 associations/rinks participate with 358 young skaters lacing them up as part of the day's festivities. Many locations hosted parties for the kids after the on-ice instruction, all in an effort to attract new skaters to our great game.  READ MORE>>
Six Illinois Players Participating in the 2019 Deaflympics!
The USA will be competing at the 2019 Deaflympics in Valtellina - Valchiavenna, Italy through December 21, 2019! USA Hockey Announces U.S. Women's National Team Roster
USA Hockey recently announced the 23 players who have been selected to the U.S. Women's National Team that will play Canada in the opening two contests of the 2019-20 Rivalry Series. The roster includes Illinois' Megan Bozek (Buffalo Grove), Jesse Compher (Northbrook) and Kendall Coyne-Schofield (Palos Heights). READ MORE>>
2020 U.S. National Junior Team Preliminary Roster Unveiled
USA Hockey recently named 28 players to the preliminary roster of its 2020 U.S. National Junior Team. The roster includes Illinois' Jack Drury (Winnetka), Jacob Pivonka (Naperville) and Alex Turcotte (Chicago).  The group is auditioning for a spot on the final 23-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2020 World Junior Championship from Dec. 26, 2019 - Jan. 5, 2020, in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.
