A New Year – Tidying your things and your life
“From the moment you start tidying, you will be compelled to reset your life. As a result, your life will start to change. Tidying is just a tool, not the final destination. The true goal should be to establish the lifestyle you want most once your house has been put in order.” – Marie Kondo
Don’t let your past become a weight that holds you back. Tidying is more than just organizing and putting things away. It’s also getting rid of things that you don’t need, things that don’t “bring you joy.” Is this something you see taking a place of importance in your future? If you decide to keep it, treasure it, OR get rid of it. As I cleared out the remnants of my old business from my basement, I felt a tremendous weight being lifted from my shoulders. It can be life altering! Really! Try it.
As Kate Campbell reminded us yesterday – it’s not just adding new things to your plate but it’s taking away too! She mentioned a simple concept of using paper plates so you don’t have to spend as much time washing and drying dishes and putting them away. So simple, but it could bring you so much joy!
I have a habit of trying to squeeze too many tasks in too little time. When you are coming up against a deadline, take a good look at your list. Can you delegate anything? What items are the most important? In the end, the most important things get done and no one (except you) notices that the things at the end of the list didn’t happen. You lightened your load and everything is OK. You see – you were enough for this task.
One reason so many of us never succeed at tidying is because we have too much stuff. – Marie Kondo
Let it go! Let it go! 😊 (can you hear me singing?!)
