Buyer Seller Meet organized by Council on Leather Exports in New York:

Council for Leather Exports (CLE) Ltd. in association with Accessories Council, New York conducted India Factory Expo & Sourcing Fair Buyer seller Meet (BSM) on December 4-6, 2019 on Indian Leather, Footwear, Apparel & Accessories Sourcing and Buyer Seller Meet by different factories at the Penn Plaza in New York. Consul General inaugurated the Buyer Seller Meet on December 4, 2019 and interacted with Council for Leather Export members along with 50 Indian exhibitors who displayed their leather products and offered assistance and local support for such initiatives.

Ambassador’s Visit to Boston, Massachusetts:


‘A Symposium on Next Phase of India's Growth and Development' was organised in Boston on December 06, 2019 by India Caucus at the Harvard University along with the Boston Center of Excellence and Consulate General of India. Consul General delivered a keynote address during the inaugural session of the Symposium. His address academically analyzed India's present stage in power and development matrix and the way ahead. During the visit, Ambassador met the Governor of Massachusetts Charlie Baker IV and discussed strengthening cooperation between India and Massachusetts in various sectors. He met Mohan Nannapaneni, Founder of Team Aid, an organization working for the welfare of the Indian diaspora in USA and delivered a keynote address on ‘The Next phase of India’s Growth and Development’ at the Harvard Kennedy School. During his visit he interacted with researchers and students of the Harvard India Caucus and other universities, addressed and interacted with members of the New England Council, the oldest regional business council in USA and addressed prominent representatives of the Indian community at a reception hosted by the India Association of Greater Boston. Ambassador also offered prayers at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in New Jersey on December 07, 2019 and greeted the gathering on the auspicious occasion of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s 98th birth anniversary.

Launch of New England States Chapter of the Indian American International Chamber of Commerce (IAICC) in Boston:

The New England States Chapter of the Indian American International Chamber of Commerce (IAICC) was launched at the Northeastern University campus on December 6, 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts. Ambassador Harsh V Shringla, was the Chief Guest at the event and lauded the work of the Chamber and its President & CEO KV Kumar for playing a vital role in promoting India-US trade relations. He also thanked all the community leaders and partners for supporting the launch, where Consul General was also present. At the launch, Kay Khan, State Representative and House Committee Chair on Disabilities honored the Chamber with a proclamation, which was accepted by Mr. Kumar on behalf of the Chamber.

New India Lecture (Season 2) A Conversation with Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO of National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) at the Consulate:

Consulate General of New York organized a conversation as a part of its New India Lecture Series Season II with Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO of National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) at the Consulate on December 12, 2019. The Conversation was moderated by Richard Boocock, Senior Vice President, CEO and Special Advisor to the Chairman at Air Products and Chemicals Inc.

Hon'ble Defence Minister of India Shri Rajnath Singh arrived in New York on his way to Washington for the 2+2 dialogue, the highest institutionalized bilateral dialogue between India and the US. While in New York, he attended a reception for the Indian Community and Friends of India organized by the Consulate General of India at the prestigious Asia Society. Attending a gathering of almost 300 persons, the Minister spoke about the importance and contributions of the Indian American Community and their role in the success of Howdy Modi. He also dealt with several contemporary issues in his address including the abrogation of Article 370, CAB and the importance of friendly relations with neighbors. Hon'ble Minister also held a Q&A session and answered questions at length from audience including on India-US relations and the Indian economy.

A new IT initiative of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs – for arriving International passengers. This state-of-the-art mobile application enables incoming passengers to make advance customs and currency declarations even before reaching Indian airports.
