Lock Down in Kamonkoli
Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of the Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison
and you came to Me.
Matthew 25:34-36

I want to say thank you to all of you who have been contributing to the deductible of the medical costs I have incurred for my broken arm over the last two months. It means a lot to me that you care to help me in this way, and I continue to covet your support and prayers. We have almost reached the deductible.

During this time of COVID-19 I have many thoughts running through my mind and heart for the people of Uganda. I know that we have not had good weather for growing good crops for the last three years, either too dry or too much rain. Then the locust came and hit the northern part of Uganda and other parts of Africa as well. Now the lockdown is keeping people from working and they really depend so much on their $1 to $2 a day that they make to survive.

The children from our Genesis Primary School are used to having breakfast and lunch there as well as a good lunch on Saturdays after AWANA. This has all stopped. The other 300 children in sponsorship that go to boarding schools are used to getting their meals there. At home they get little food and now even less. I think of the children that are undernourished that we have been working so hard to help get their health and nutrition in order. What is going to happen to them during this time? I am not as concerned with the virus as we have not had many cases. However, if one of these children who are undernourished get it, they will not make it.

Let me share of one that I have shared about before, Patricia, who lives with her old Grandmother and basically she has to take care of her. Unless they receive food this seven-year-old girl cannot make it alone. Another is Andrew, who has been featured in our first Donate A Plate video, wholived with his old Grandmother for a long time, but now she has passed away. How will he survive as he is weak and has fainting spells already.

I am really asking for your support to help us feed the children and people who have no way to get food because of the circumstances. We would like to begin delivering food as soon as we get the funds needed and we work with local officials to allow us to do so during these locked down times. Some have generously sent in already, but we need more to help feed them all. There are so many children and their siblings that need food at this time. We ask for you to join us in our effort to help them.

I pray the Lord keeps all of you during this time. I am going through physical therapy and my wrist, hand and fingers are improving. I give thanks to the Lord who has kept me and pray for my children who are missing me a lot. They are a bit frightened about this virus and Mom is not able to be with them as yet.
God bless you and I love you all,

Katherine

Food distribution day at our offices is exciting for everyone. We also deliver the food to the homes with teams when we can so that we seize opportunities to minister to families and observe direct needs. This time around we will be “social distance” delivering to the homes of our sponsored children and their guardian families. You can help with a gift of $30 for a food basket  with posho, beans, corn flour and other staples that we are able to secure at this time.
