A Word From Our Founder:

"It seems like things are starting to open back up again and there is A LOT going on. I like it! Oh, and I LOVE that the weather is warming up! I love the busyness of spring- cleaning, planning, etc. I guess I just thrive on being busy, sometimes to my detriment. My husband John recently was reading an article about Warren Buffet and about what the difference is between great success and REALLY great success. Can you guess what it is? It’s one little word…NO!. This is something I have never seemed to learn. I am working on it though (-:
That being said, I’d like to share a little bit about one of the things I do that keeps me busy, besides making our school a GREAT success. I am the secretary of the Cultural Arts Rotary Club of Fresno. For years the club's motto was, “We are the ONLY Cultural Arts Rotary Club in the world”. Now we say, “the FIRST” because recently, we have gained what they call a “twin” club or a “sister” club in Mumbai India. Yes, that’s right, across the globe there is a group of Rotarians that are dedicated to serving and supporting the Arts. It’s very cool to wake up at 6:30 AM and get on a ZOOM with the Mumbai Club. I am very honored to serve our community with this amazing bunch of people.
Rotary’s Mission
We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Rotary is involved in all kinds of “nonpolitical” projects locally and internationally. One of them is their mission to End Polio globally -for good.

Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever.
As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiate, we've reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. To learn more, click this link

You can help by saving and donating your pennies and dropping them in the jar on the counter. ALL THE MONEY goes to help this cause!
Thank you so much and here’s to a GREAT spring at FMAA!"

Peace,
Debi

Sue Beevers Memorial Scholarships

"Sue Lyon Beevers was a popular, multi-talented woman who helped found Fresno Folklore Society.
Sue was a driving force behind Fresno Folklore Society and was active in fostering Traditional Music in the Greater Fresno area until her passing from brain cancer in 2014. Her good friend, Sherron Brown, led the effort to remember Sue by creating a memorial fund to support children and teens who wished to pursue traditional folk music forms and to share their musical gifts in their own communities.
All recipients of the scholarship are invited to perform and be a part of this annual Sue Beevers Memorial Concert held in the summer months.
Remembering Dave Hernandez

As most of you know, our dear friend and beloved teacher Dave Hernandez has passed away. His service took place on the 23rd of Feb.

Dave was a beautiful human with the funniest sense of humor. The families and students whose lives he has touched all loved him so very much.

We will miss him, and his memory will forever fuel our commitment to spreading music, kindness, and love here at Fresno Music Academy.

Thank you, Dave. We love you.
(The photo below is of Dave and Debi from the 80's! He's on the top left. What a stache!)

The Doris Gallery is exhibiting a new artist!

Fresno Music Academy and Arts is pleased to host the artwork of Caroline McDonald for the months of March and April.

Business Highlight - The Art of Anger
An Alternative Mental Health Trauma Transformation Center, where you can smash objects safely to release your repressed emotions, then turn it into ART!

"The Art of Anger was born of a desire to help people to discover and connect to their own internal and eternal living Light, as they begin, continue, and expand the pursuit of their essential life’s purpose. More and more clients were presenting with feelings of buried anger, heavy shame, and a feeling of being stuck in the mud, unable to break free from old pain, randomly triggered by the unexpected and highly frustrated."
