Celebrating Ten Years of Western Water Data Sharing: The History, Key Players, and Next Directions

Over the past few decades, the Western United States has been experiencing unprecedented droughts while its population has continued to grow. This has put pressure on the West’s water management systems and increased the need for regional data analyses.
 
In 2011, the Western States Water Council launched the Water Data Exchange (WaDE) to help member states share data to enable multi-state analyses and inform regional planning and policies.
Supporting the Health of the Haw River
Check out this video about our work with The Commons and the Haw River Assembly to integrate data from the River Keeper’s many water monitoring programs into one easy-to-use online platform. Users can visualize data on an interactive map or download it for use in other programs.

COVID-19's Impact on Water Utilities
A new paper by Erika Smull, Lucas Eastman, Lauren Patterson, and Martin Doyle published in Journal AWWA examines the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on water consumption and utility revenues. Most utilities saw an increase in both consumption and revenues in 2020.
