November Character Trait

~Compassion~

To recognize the suffering of others, then take action to help.  That human disposition that fuels Acts of Kindness and mercy.  Compassion, a form of love, is aroused within us when we are confronted with those who suffer or are vulnerable.

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.  Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."  Proverbs 31:8-9

"But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him."  Luke 10:33

Dear Parents,

I pray your Thanksgiving Holiday is filled with wonderful fellowship and delicious food!   Take time to count your blessings, as we have such a loving Heavenly Father showering us every day of the year!

When you come back from the break, we will have a fast (almost) three weeks before we are out for the Christmas Holiday.

Please consider ways you can help us with our new MakerSpace, Toy Drive, and Compassionate Hearts for the Homeless projects.  Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.

Count your blessings, name them one by one...

MakerSpace Opening Soon!

We are projecting the opening of Phase I of our MakerSpace to be the end of January 2020! What exactly is a MakerSpace, you say?

A MakerSpace is an area of the classroom or common media space that is reserved for creative exploration, engineering, tinkering, inventing and purposeful play.  In a MakerSpace children have opportunities to discover, assemble, problem solve, construct, test, and explore using divergent, "outside the box" thinking.  A MakerSpace should inspire new passions for students and cater to their unique multiple intelligences.

We have already utilized this space to introduce our teachers to their first MakerSpace experience!  Can I say...excitement abounds among our staff.

Box Tops

Participating brands are beginning to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops Label.

Eventually, the Box Tops program will become digital-only, so  i f you see this new label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt.  Box Tops are still worth 10 cents each for your school.  The app will automatically find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to your schools earnings online.

Traditional Box Tops are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products still in store.  You may still clip them and send them in!

We have included a link below to a "how to" video!

Parent Alert

~Help Us to Keep Our Students Safe~

While driving on campus, please be aware of the following:

  • Speed limit is 5 miles per hour
  • Please allow 30 feet distance between your car and all crosswalks on property when in use
  • Obey all traffic signs
  • Watch for VCS staff directing traffic
  • Refrain from using cell phones or playing loud music
  • Please do not leave your car unattended in carpool
  • NO PARKING in the carpool lanes
  • Refrain from parking in front of the Head of School office area in the mornings.  This is for Early Education Only in the A.M.
  • Please do not drop Elementary Students off in front of the Head of School office unless special arrangements have been made with the Principal.  You may park in the parking lot and walk them in.
Student Safety is # 1

When participating in carpool for drop off or pick up, please remember to be patient as you proceed.  Cutting in and out of the line increases the possibility of accidents.

Please thank and support each carpool worker who, rain or shine, works the traffic on campus.  Your support is so needed, and maybe a Starbucks when it is raining!
