Senior Info Needed

Seniors are reminded to complete the Class of 2020 information survey that was sent by email on April 15 and to also send a photo to [email protected] .  The deadline has been extended to Monday, May 4
Virtual Congratulatons for Seniors
Typically the National Honor Society holds a carnation sale at the end of the school year for students and family members to send congratulatory carnations to the graduating seniors.  This year the NHS is sponsoring a Virtual Congratulations for our Seniors. Although we cannot purchase or deliver carnations at this time, it's the "Congratulations!" messages that make this tradition so special for our graduating seniors. Just fill in the form by clicking here.  Orders are FREE and due by Friday, May 1, at 3 PM.  We'll take care of the rest in making sure the senior receives the message and your congratulatory support.
Senior Graduate Signs

Class of 2020, a local sign company has partnered with parents to create a special yard sign to congratulate seniors. If you are interested in ordering, please contact Jennifer at Image 360 York: [email protected]  The cost of each sign is $26.50.   This is not a school-sponsored activity or requirement.
National "Be the Light" Night
T omorrow night, May 1, York Catholic will join many schools across Pennsylvania and the United States in honoring this year's Graduating Class of 2020, and first responders, healthcare workers, and all who are on the front line of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

York Catholic's stadium lights will be turned on for 20 minutes at 8:20 PM (military time 20:20), the scoreboard will read time as 20:20 with a score of 20-20, and the 4th down & 19 yards to go will be displayed as the down and distance signifying COVID-19 is on its final down.  Look for a picture on the York Catholic social media sites.  Please do not come to campus .  You will be able to see it live on the York Catholic Athletics Facebook page.

If community members are compelled to support this initiative from their homes, grab your favorite noisemaker (cowbells, horns, etc.) or rally towel, pom poms, etc.  Consider making a sign or banner with your senior's name, and/or first responder/healthcare worker's name letting them know we are thinking of them during this time.  Take a picture and send it to [email protected] and look for them on the York Catholic social media sites.

Please, we cannot stress this enough, supporters of this initiative will not be permitted on campus.
Virtual Coffee House

COVID-19 prevents us from holding the Spring Coffee House in person this year, so we are joining together to hold a Virtual Coffee House on Friday, May 8. Students in grades 9-12 are invited to sing, read poetry, tell jokes, play instruments, or tell a story.  All performances will be pre-recorded.

Performers who signed up are reminded that their performance recordings are due by Friday, May 1. All forms and information can be found on the Virtual Coffee House 2020 Google Classroom. The classroom code is:  thc4r6x

More details coming in next week's Irish Eye as to how to tune in to watch on Friday, May 8, at 7 PM.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Euclide at [email protected] or Ms. Mezza at [email protected] .
Junior Rings
Balfour, the company who supplies our class rings, is temporarily closed due to COVID-19.  Junior students who ordered class rings will receive them directly from Balfour by mail to your home as soon as they are cleared to re-open.  We will be blessing the rings during the Ring Ceremony to be scheduled during the first week of the 2020-2021 school year, so students should be sure to wear their rings to school that week.
Yearbooks

Our yearbook publisher headquarters has been temporarily closed due to COVID-19.  As soon as they're cleared to re-open, our yearbooks will be printed and delivered to YC.  We will notify you of distribution plans as soon as they are determined.
Congratulations

Congratulations to the 2018-19 Yearbook staff and advisors, Mrs. Nagley and Mrs. Hardiman, who were recognized by Balfour Publishing for an outstanding 2018-19 yearbook.  Yearbooks were evaluated in one or more of the following areas: theme development, layout design, photo content, secondary packages, and cover design. York Catholic's honor reflects their commitment to journalism excellence and creativity. Balfour honors fewer than 5 percent of yearbook staffs with this distinction.
Marching Band Auditions
Any student who is registered for the 2020-2021 school year at York Catholic, is a musician, dancer, or interested in color guard, should sign up for Marching Band!  The seriousness of COVID-19 prevents us from holding auditions in person this year, so we've made adjustments to allow for auditions through recordings and still maintain our rehearsal schedule.

YC students who are instrumentalists need to play at least at an intermediate level.  Students who are new to York Catholic need to send an audition recording.  The audition recording must include the student playing two different scales of their choice and a selection from a private lesson piece or concert piece.

New YC students who wish to join the color guard must audition.  Auditions will take place when we can all be back together.

Click here for sign-up for Marching Band and Color Guard and for more details about auditions. The deadline for submitting audition videos is Friday, May 22
