GEAR UP in full swing

Last spring, the Arizona Governor’s Office, Eastern Arizona College and Payson Unified School District partnered to bring GEAR UP to Rim Country Middle School’s seventh graders. 
Career classes booming

With enough planning and hard work, Payson High School students can graduate with both a community college AA degree and a professional certificate in one of a variety of fields.
A kick-off to the fall season

Mystery meat is a thing of the past at PUSD

Starting this year, PUSD has contracted with Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE) to offer breakfast and lunch to students across the district. SFE, an Arizona-based company, specializes in K-12 nutrition, with a corporate team of dietitians and professional chefs who train cafeteria staff. 
JRE offers after-school enrichment programs

Julia Randall Elementary offers a variety of enrichment activities. After-school activities include a Rock Club for third graders and Choir and Bells, Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (STEAM), Excel, fly-fishing and tutoring for all students. 
A trip to Montezuma Castle

On Friday, Oct. 11, a group of Payson Center for Success students, along with history teacher Ted Tatum, went to Montezuma’s Well and Montezuma’s Castle in Camp Verde.

Donations to schools

Boy, Payson loves its kids.
So not only did the Payson School District’s budget override get a whopping 61 percent approval with one of the highest off-year turnout rates in the state — people keep on donating.
Payson High's DECA heads to the Valley

In September, Payson High’s DECA program, a marketing organization, went to Phoenix to take part in Arizona Fall Leadership conference. The conference had interactive workshops that expose students to competition preparation and entrepreneurs.
School budget override passes

Voters offered overwhelming support for Payson Schools, with 61 percent approving a continuation of the 10 percent budget override.
A rejection would have forced the district to cut its budget by $1.2 million, phased in over three years.
