President’s Address

Dear Members,

On behalf of the  PFC  Board and Staff we would like to offer a sincere thank you to you our members, our players, coaches, match officials volunteers and supporters for an excellent 2018-2019.

As in previous AGM’s I’ve had the pleasure of standing before you, and in a few minutes capture and articulate the events of the past year, something I do with extreme pride on behalf of our board and staff.

I’ve often said that we move so quickly from one task to another that we sometimes lose sight of what we have actually accomplished. It’s not until we reflect on the past that we really see those accomplishments, in fact I can honestly say that I’ve not been this excited about the direction of our club since our 2014 AGM where we achieved a great deal not the least of which was the opening of this facility!

In 2019 our focus has been to provide you with  Best in Class  programming establishing  PFC  as the “Destination Club” in the Region while fostering a sense of family and belonging. In doing so, we hope to be rewarded with your loyalty and in turn the opportunity to share your success stories with our community and future members as they too consider  PFC  as their “Destination Club” further contributing to the cycle of success.

The successes I speak of aren’t always visible, our staff, our board, our coaches and our volunteers are constantly working to make our club better, and much of it without any fan fair. In fact, a case can be made that they are under appreciated for their work behind the “glass” doors.

From the outside looking in the path to success is often overlooked given the success itself. But without peoples constant efforts to make us a better club, success would only be a goal and not something we actually achieve.

Success is measured in many ways, some more visible than others, the efforts behind the scenes although just as important, aren’t as visible. However, tangible results, those we can see, touch and feel are the ones that have staying power, the ones that are etched in our memories (along with our failures) and we do have some of those as well.

Fair or unfair, outside forces mostly define our club successes by the on-field achievements of our players and teams. These successes become the calling card in support of being the “destination club” in Durham and something that we will continue nurture through successful player development.

The  PFC  has undertaken much over the last 12 months. We knew that we needed to be better not only in the boardroom, but also on the field. With direction from our Board, our Executive Director Matt and the staff, we have been successful on many fronts; from our successful grant applications, our designation as a National youth licensed club (one of only 39 in Canada) to changes in the leadership of our technical department with the hiring of Dave Benning and most recently Hollie, we will continue to be better.

We’ve also rebranded in conjunction with our 35 th  Anniversary, changes included our club name and logo. We’ve changed our primary colours while keeping the green & gold as a subtle reminder of our heritage. Moving forward every program within the  PFC  will begin and end with one singular identity.

Of all that we’ve accomplished … AND MOST VISIBLE… is the tremendous success and accomplishments of our players, teams and all of our coaches which you will hear more about shortly.

Our  PFC  is indeed multi-faceted, our initiatives and offering go well beyond what I have described above, all of which you will hear about in this presentation. Our vision of being the best club in Canada starts with providing the scope of offerings that meet the needs of our community. Being the best at what you do is hard work, it’s the administrative and technical leadership, the support of staff and you our members that will lead us to on-field and off field successes as  a National Youth Licensed club  cementing our reputation as the “Destination Club” in the Durham Region!

Thank you,
Corrado Roccasalva
