Dear Rancho Cordova Residents and Businesses,

This has not been an easy six weeks. The world changed in a heartbeat, and these changes affected our day-to-day lives in ways that seemed unimaginable just a short time ago. Members of our community have experienced changes on many fronts: from their health to their jobs, from their businesses to the way we interact with our families and friends. And, yet, the human spirit is indomitable. Despite these trying times, I have seen much hope, kindness and inspiration in our community.

During this difficult time, it is my hope that you are staying healthy. I want to thank you for following the stay-at-home orders and social distancing guidelines. Your efforts, despite the great sacrifice, have made all the difference in mitigating the effect of COVID-19/coronavirus in our city.
As I have over the past six weeks, I want to take some time to update you on matters related to the stay-at-home orders, as well as services to assist you during this time.

First, the timeframe for the stay-at-home orders has been extended through May 22, 2020. The Sacramento County Public Health Officer issued a new Public Health Order effective at 11:59 PM on May 1 through 11:59 PM on May 22, 2020.

The new Public Health Order clarifies some essential activities and allowable recreational activities from the previous Order:

  • Essential Activities now allow for visiting a health care professional for medical or dental care for chronic conditions or preventive services.
  • Allowing non-contact recreational facilities and activities that include the use of shared equipment, including shooting and archery ranges, disc golf, tennis courts and boating, provided that activities conform to social distancing requirements and appropriate disinfectant processes.
  • Contact sports or activities, including basketball, football and soccer are prohibited outside of residences.
  • Healthcare providers and hospitals may reschedule appointments for care that was considered non-urgent and canceled when the Public Health Order was first issued. This includes elective procedures, preventive services such as immunizations and other care for chronic conditions.
  • Residential viewings for rentals, leases and home sales are now allowable when the occupant is still residing in the residence. The requirement is still in place that the visit must be by appointment with no more than two visitors at a time residing within the same household or living unit and one individual showing the unit.
  • Food trucks have been added to Essential Businesses.

During this time, the city has made it easy for you to access trusted information related to COVID-19/coronavirus, key services, and resources—all in one place at CityofRanchoCordova.org/coronavirus . Resources are updated daily including information, such as:

  • Free grocery delivery is available to our residents. Rancho Delivers provides free grocery delivery from Raley’s Supermarkets and Safeway.
  • A directory of community services was created to provide information about food pantry/school meal information and other family resources.
  • Small businesses have access to city resources, including a loan program, free consultation services, and a toolkit, plus many more resources from the state and federal government.
  • Many businesses are open for business during this time, including grocery stores, restaurants (take out or delivery only), and other essential businesses.
  • The city created a robust activities page for individuals and families who are looking for ways to stay-at-home but still have fun.
  • If you’re looking for inspiration, check out #RanchoCordovaInspires for many of the special ways our community is coming together during this crisis.

I will continue to update you as new information becomes available. In the meantime, I ask that you share this information widely with others who may not have signed up for the city’s newsletters and are not following us on social media.

Wishing you my best as you stay home and stay healthy. Together, we can save lives.

Sincerely,

Cyrus Abhar
City Manager
