Prayer Team announcement

Prayer Team - via ZOOM today at 11:30

On the first Sunday of every month the members of the prayer team hold a “virtual” ZOOM prayer service at 11:30 a.m. (focusing on the prayer requests shared by parishioners through calls or emails to the church office or to individual members of the prayer team.) We lift up these prayer requests and other concerns of the parish, community, and world.

During this time of Covid19, the prayer team is holding ZOOM prayer team gatherings twice a month. Also, weekly we share the prayers and petitions that have been given to us and they are lifted up daily by members of the team. All are welcome to participate in these services. Our next mid-month service will be November, 15 at 11:30.

For those who have an immediate prayer need or would like to receive the ZOOM codes and join the prayer team service, we invite you to email your prayer needs/requests to Sister BJ Brown at: sisterbjbrown@gmail.com or call Cindy Fauerbach 302-584-8053.

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Thank you for your interest and energy in the Rector Search process. We are delighted to report that the Congregational Assessment Tool has gone out via email (or via US mail if we do not have your email). We strongly encourage you to complete the Assessment as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, November 23. Your opinion and perspectives are critically important at this point in the life of St. James’.

The information gathered in this survey will then be shared with the congregation and used to determine the right qualities St. James is seeking in its new rector. November is a time for giving thanks and we are thankful for your loyalty and willingness to participate. We anticipate results of the assessment will be back to the search committee and reported to the congregation in December.

In January, the committee will work on producing the necessary components of the Community Ministry Profile and the website job posting. While the timeline is not set in stone, our goal is to have this completed by the end of January.

During this challenging time, we appreciate your patience as we try to communicate utilizing new/different tools such as Zoom and Facebook. Questions regarding the search process should be directed to the Search co-chairs listed below. We look forward to working with you on the assessment and reporting to you as the process moves forward.

A Prayer for Those in the Armed Forces of our Country on Veterans’ Day

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fellow Parishioners,

Your Rector Search Committee is hard at work on the process of selecting a new rector for St. James’.  As you are aware, we have decided to use Holy Cow! Consulting’s Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT) to help plan our future. It is an important survey of our parishioners, the heart of our church.
You will soon be receiving your Survey. If you have not verified your contact information with a member of the Vestry, please contact the church office immediately (302-994-1584). We need accurate contact information to ensure you receive a Survey. You do not want to miss this opportunity to contribute to the future of St. James’ Mill Creek.
·        The CAT Survey is on-line. If we have your current email address, you will receive an email with instructions and a link to the Survey.
·        IMPORTANT: It is vital that you READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND QUESTIONS THOUROUGHLY prior to starting the survey.
·        If you do not have e-mail, don’t worry, you will be mailed a paper Survey. You must complete the Survey and mail it back to the church, no later than November 23, 2020. A stamped, self-addressed envelope will be enclosed with your Survey.
·        The completion date for all Surveys is no later than November 23, 2020.
·        Information provided by the Survey will be used by the Search Committee to create a church/parish profile and job description that will be:
o  viewed by interested candidates, and
o  a tool for interviewing and selecting candidates.
Thank you for your support and completing the Survey. Again, it is an important part of our search for a new rector and the future of St. James’ Mill Creek.
Alleluia,

Your Rector Search Committee

A Prayer for the Conservation of Natural Resources

Almighty God, in giving us dominion over things on earth, you made us fellow workers in your creation: Give us wisdom and reverence so to use the resources of nature, that no one may suffer from our abuse of them, and that generations yet to come may continue to praise you for your bounty; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
