The COVID-19 pandemic weighs on all of us - and some community members will need additional behavioral health support to get through this difficult time. The Jewish Hartford Rapid Relief and Recovery Fund will help our partners at Jewish Family Services expand their counseling services to meet this increased demand, including the following kinds of needs:
  • Grief counseling for a local man who recently lost his mother to COVID-19. Like so many families, this man couldn't say goodbye in person and was not able to mark the burial and observe shiva as usual.
  • Therapy for a local family whose child has become very fearful due to the pandemic. Both the parents and the child receive counseling, and the child is participating in remote art therapy using home-delivered art supplies from JFS.
  • Compassionate care for a medical professional in a long-term care facility who has just lost a coworker to COVID-19. This single mom is struggling with her grief while working long hours and trying to comfort her children as they act out their own fears.
When appropriate, JFS also helps clients address basic needs like kosher food, utilities, and rent.

If you have already contributed to the Fund, thank you! If you haven't, we hope that you'll consider a gift to the Fund, in addition to the generous support you already provide to so many of our local Jewish organizations. Your donation will help to provide compassionate behavioral health care for everyone in need.
